We couldn't check in until the afternoon but wandered around town and hung out in the lobby. Hotel seems to host a lot of conferences and events. Our room was large and bright. We opted for the 10 euro breakfast each morning and were not disappointed. Both the hotel and event staff were very polite and communicated well with us in English. The wedding and reception went well; no problems. The hotel bar was mostly quiet during our stay, but we did enjoy one night chatting and drinking there. We only had two minor hiccups: one night there was a large function going on at the attached performing arts hall and it got noisy when the crowd spilled out into the parking lot. The other was that the temperature in the room is not very easy to regulate; we ended up turning down the heat and opening a window at night to regulate the temp. Overall, a pleasant stay at a well-run hotel.

It's really easy to find your way around and despite the fact I had to find side rooms and lobbies, it was quite easy to get around. I also really enjoyed spending time in the large garden, which is next to a lovely park which I would take a walk or just lay in the grass and enjoy the wonderful weather. Also of note, right across the street is the Elvis Presley memorial which of course I had to visit and take a picture of for my mother (who is a big Elvis fan).

I am giving this 4-star rating already taking into account the context that this is a boutique…read morehotel in a small European town, not your large-chain hotel. My experience with this hotel should have an asterisk*, because I actually didn't stay in the main hotel. Instead, because the main hotel was over-booked, I was put into one of their 1-bedroom units in their spill-over property that was literally a 30-sec walk around the corner. The spill-over property was part of a larger condo/apartment complex. The advantages of being in the spill-over property was that it was slightly more modern and larger (lots of closet space). The disadvantage was that it didn't have wifi (only the main hotel had free wifi), despite having an (obviously out-dated) list of instructions written in German on the front door about wifi being in the building. The lack of wifi was disappointing, as I was on a business trip and really needed the opportunity to get online. Regardless of whether I was in the main hotel or this spill-over property, the hotel staff are not on-site; they arrive at ~7am and leave after dinnertime (exact hours are posted on their website). The staff spoken English, so communicating was fine. Remember, this is not a big chain hotel where the front-desk is available 24/7. This almost caused a problem for me the day I was checking out: I was checking out at 5am, and was therefore advised to lock my keys (real keys, not a swipe key-card) inside my unit. That was logical, but the problem was....(even though this hadn't been a problem the entire week I was staying there), after locking my keys inside the room, other (permanent) tenants of the spill-over property had chosen to lock the lobby front-door, in which the only way to unlock it was to use the key to flip the latch. I was locked IN the lobby...I was freaking out because I need to catch a flight! Luckily, a tenant was going for a morning jog, and only then was I able to slip-out after being locked in and panicking for ~10 mins. The free breakfast in the main hotel was a simple european continental breakfast -- nothing amazing, but just fine for getting some energy for the day. Apparently, the rooms in the actual apartment were quite small and not the cleanest. But, I didn't see them myself, so I can't comment.

I have a rudimentary understanding of the German language; enough to get by. I had someone drive me there and it's a cute little building next to a creek or brook. I got there around 11 and had to wait an hour for my room to be cleaned; that was the only bad thing. The staff was very friendly right away. It was very hot outside and the rooms don't have air conditioning, but that's normal in Germany because it's not usually hot outside. Luckily there was a small fan in the room. All of the staff speaks English, except for the housekeeper, and they are all very friendly and helpful. I had many conversations with them and they helped me to find things around town. They have 2 dogs that live there that are so sweet. There's a grassy area outside with lots of flowers and places to sit. The inside smells like cigarette smoke right inside the front door because they smoke inside in the kitchen; another bad thing. My room was on the 3rd floor so I had to walk up a lot of stairs but I was ok with that. The stairs and hallways are very old and give the building some character. The rooms, at least the one I was in, have all been renovated and are very modern. My bathroom was very nice, there was a refrigerator, a bureau, a nightstand, a lamp, a tv, a desk right at the window with a chair, and a twin size bed. It was perfect for one person. The housekeeper cleaned it every day and gave me new towels and sheets every day. They serve breakfast every morning in a room that had several tables and chairs and a small buffett. Also, they have a good wifi connection and there's a card in the room that tells you how to get the password. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof and about a 10 minute walk from the middle of town. There is a bus stop right at the other side of the creek. The hotel borders the Süd Park, which is so beautiful. There is a nearby church and you can hear it's bells loud and clear, I loved that. Over all I loved the location, the hotel, the staff, the room, scenery, and the price. I definitely recommend this hotel.
