Aaron and his team were perfection to work with. Highly recommend this company for any concrete work you need.

When I asked why they advertise free estimates but then charge for it when you call, I was told that normally it would be free but since we don't own the property we would have to pay up front. Since the cost of the remodel determines if we purchase the property, this made no sense to me and it's bad customer service. When I started to tell them that they shouldn't advertise something they don't deliver I was hung up on. Would NEVER recommend this company!!

Dealing with Eric McCoy and EMC Construction was a nightmare from beginning to end. Eric McCoy has…read moreis a big bully with terrible temper and threatened me with physical violence. Let's start from the beginning. EMC came in with the highest bid among three, $15,000 for converting a carport into a garage and replacing two support posts for the front porch. McCoy was recommended by the realtor who sold me my house, and being new to the area, I went with them. Even with 10 weeks to complete the project, they still could not finish on time. But wait, it gets worse. The work from this company was very poor. the support posts for the front porch are not plumb and they hang over the front and side edges of the porch. This, of course, looks absurd. The electric work in the garage is sloppy with wires running along the ceiling of the garage that could have easily been tucked out of sight. The stucco work for the wood-frame garage was amateur looking with finger prints and waves and dents everywhere. I am still cleaning up waste mortar scattered about my property. Some was even discarded in my neighbors bushes. When I asked Eric McCoy to remedy these problems, he responded with a profanity laced tirade. He said everything was good enough and met code. He continued getting angrier and was loudly cursing me, dropping f-bombs everywhere. When i asked him to stop cursing and talking to me in that manner he only got worse. I expressed that he can't talk to me that way on my property and he replied he would talk to me however he pleased. When he continued with the insults and cursing I told him to get off my property. He refused. I said I would call the police and have him removed and he said go ahead and call them. His stucco guy started to drag him off my property but McCoy kept screaming, calling me a "pansy-ass" and tried to get me to come into the street so he could kick my ass. Keep in mind this is no small dude. He is about 6'3" and 240 lbs., so there was no way I was going to take him on. Plus, I don't customarily handle my business dealings in such a manner. I was warned by one of his workers about his temper so evidently this is the way he operates. I had to ban him from my property for the duration of the project. The stucco guy came back on his own accord (a subcontractor) and re-did his work, so credit to him. McCoy thought the original work was fine. The job was supposed to be complete at the end of may but wasn't finished until late August. Office manager was demanded money be brought to their office because they didn't want to wait the 2-3 days for the check to get there by mail. If you want a belligerent contractor who will treat you like crap, insult you, refuse to leave your property, and threaten to kick your ass if you don't like his poor work and attitude, then this is your guy. Otherwise I suggest you hire someone else.

My South Tampa 2 story 2700 sq house had a 35 year old brown Spanish barrel tile cement tile roof…read morethat desperately needed to be replaced. So I looked at various options; cement tile replacement was not possible without removing a tree due to having to place a lifting machine in the front yard; a metal roof would rust given my closeness to the water and metal would of course dent whenever it was walked on. Also cement tile roofs absorb moisture easily and crack from being walked on or just from water penetrating the cement and causing it to weaken and crack over time. Also cement tiles, being porous to water, result in surface mold and algae. And cement tiles have a problem called "efflorescence" which is a chemical reaction due to water penetration that causes their color to turn chalky white over time. Our roof had been painted twice at least by previous owners due to the problem with efflorescence and the same was true with our previous house in New Tampa. I really wanted something different. I wanted tiles that would not crack, break, change color, or absorb a drop of water. And that were 180 mph hurricane resistant. OK, I thought I was asking for the moon :) But after a few weeks of studying my options on YouTube, I chose to do a composite Spanish barrel tile roof made of recycled plastic and settled on Brava as they had the best color match and specifications of the various national composite tile manufacturers. Brava gave me a list of local installers they recommended and after getting price quotes, I chose Coppertop roofing. What really sold me on Coppertop was that they had just put a new Brava Spanish barrel roof on a huge university building in St. Pete and the pics were stunning. Brava shipped me samples of every tile they had so that I could find the best match to my existing color scheme. Coppertop worked with me and with the Brava engineering team to choose the components to get the longest lasting roof possible; this involved choosing the features such as "open valleys", stainless steel screws (2 per tile), one O'Hagin vent in front, three 6' Tamco off ridge vents in back, and Polystick TU Plus underlayment. Robert who is the owner of Coppertop roofing returned every call when I had a question or concern and his secretary, Paula, was always polite and helpful in getting any messages through. Ivan, the site foreman, took care of my every concern during the installation. Thanks Ivan! The roof was finished yesterday and the result looks beautiful !!! My wife agrees too. I am very happy that the color of the tile is UV stabilized and will never change it's appearance. The water runs off the roof now as plastic is of course hydrophobic, whereas with the previous cement tiles, water dripped off more slowly since cement is hydrophilic. I give Coppertop the highest endorsement. And I think the Brava tiles are exceptional and will last at least 50 years. Every roofer should learn to put them on. It requires more flashing instead of mortar; the result is less mess when installing because the mortar isn't having to be mixed and thrown between tiles. The technical details of installation require the most experienced team to be your roofer and that roofer is Coppertop. Robert's son Tyler and his wife for the initial quote and helped choosing the best tile color which turned out to be dark brown with black streaks; it looks better and more dramatic than we ever expected with our house having a linen white color. Thanks again, Robert, Paula, Ivan, and Tyler at Coppertop roofing!!
