We called Mertec to come out and fix the pump or we were going to have to have our house full of people go home. My call was answered on the first ring by a pleasant gentleman. He asked a bunch of questions then made some suggestions as to what we might try first. We did and called him back. Based on what we told him at that point, he made some final suggestions and asked that I call him back and let him know how that worked out. We did what he said and the pump worked great. I called him back to say thank you and ask how much I owed him and he chuckled and said you don't owe me anything, but that if plumping needs arise in the future to think of him. I absolutely will look to Mertec for any future needs as well as recommend them to anyone in need. Our fix was simple for people that have some basic mechanical knowledge. Marty seemed a nice enough guy. Made a few comments that made me realize we don't share similar political philosophies, but, no big deal. It's a large world, and we can all get along if we try, right? Recently it seemed that my furnace was misbehaving, (short cycling) so I looked online to see if I could pinpoint the problem. I found the thermostat manual and tried a few things, pushed a few buttons. A day or so later I felt I had not helped the issue, so I called Marty. I explained that I'd like him to check the thermostat to make certain I had not altered something making my furnace not operate correctly. He asked me a few questions, and thought he could fix it over the phone. I told him I would feel less anxious if he came and took a loot at it. He arrived and chastised me for altering the thermostat, which obviously made me feel uncomfortable. I work with the public, people do stupid stuff all the time. As a professional, you have your own inner monologue about, smile, and hand them a bill. I apologized and asked him a few questions about the cycling and heat swings. At this point, he actually became irate and raised his voice: "It pisses me off that I have to be here because you were messing around with your thermostat, and if you mess with it again, I'm not coming back to fix it." I was shocked. To be honest, I actually felt a wave of anxiety sweep over me. I The following day our furnace was acting worse. I woke up and the house was ten degrees warmer than the thermostat was set. Did I call ASH? Not in your life.
