I've been going to this flea market for years. They have a mix of cheap items and clothing along with thrift shop type of stuff. There is always at least a handful of items I can buy for under 10 bux. Even coats and shirts for a dollar. I also enjoy their food with some stands being very authentic. Like the mexican stand covered by hand built and hand painted wood to give off an outdoor restaurant feel and the smokers and grills surrounding the jamaican bbq stand. The mexican food is the best I've had in my life, I had ordered an al pastor burrito and they had covered the white rice in stew sauce as well as toasted the wrapper making it moist n saucy yet crispy to perfection. Cheese filled arepas are also sold in the flea market. The best of all I must say is the sweet smoked corn which I recommend to ask for mayo, cayenne pepper, butter, ketchup and parmesian cheese as toppings.

I've been coming here for years. It barely has any vendors and most are decent, but nothing worth coming back for.

I love the Ridgewood Market!…read more This Sunday was the first time that I attended. It actually took place on Summerfield Street, which is right near my house (so I had no excuse not to attend!). So my local artisans and businesses were represented here! Not only establishments from Ridgewood (Norma's, Rudy's) but there are tons of other cool vendors from all over NYC represented here! MartiniHandmades (from whom I got an awesome terrarium and bracelet), an awesome empanada table, someone serving shrimp and grits! So many local artists, jewelry makers and thrift stores! I know that this market is awesome, because even my boyfriend, who usually does not enjoy these types of things, found several vendors, items and foods that he loved! Score! Everyone was friendly and some vendors even took credit cards! What a great way to get to meet people from your neighborhood and support local artisans! I can't wait to do all of my holiday shopping at Ridgewood Market!

I guess I'll review this since it is on here, but it is really a recurrent event rather than a…read more"place". It actually is a monthly event held at Gottscheer Hall; I stopped by the initial one in April. It is categorized on Yelp as a "flea market" at moment, but that is really a misnomer; while there were a few booths selling used goods it is predominantly an indoor arts & crafts fair, with some booths selling food products to boot. This might be a good place to check if you were buying gifts; the majority of the goods are likely more appealing to women than men from my judgement. One aspect I do appreciate is that the vendor pool seems to display a relatively diverse range of ages, ethnicities, and tastes and the same goes for the crowd perhaps due to advertising that is also locally-focused; it doesn't feel so much like some of the similar craft markets held in other boroughs, but has a less-pretentious, very neighborhoodly Queens vibe. It seems to, consciously or not, embody Ridgewood quite well rather than attempting to replicate an outside aesthetic in this old neighborhood. Hopefully it becomes even more diverse and representative of the neighborhood as the event evolves. The best part is seeing so many people at Gottscheer Hall for a public event during daytime hours, as well as being able to get eggs and other brunchtime foods they don't normally serve.

The waterfront district here starting to get developed into prime real estate just like Brooklyn Bridge Park as the previous industrial area makes way to residential / commercial. Situated in Industry City the warehouse hub where food establishments are using the industrial space to prepare their food to be distributed throughout the NYC area. Smorgasburg now has set up shop here on the weekends. It's a bit confusing to navigate since it's such a large commercial park but Smorgasburg is situated in building 1 and on the 2nd floor. One side of the large floor space is dedicated to the flea portion and the other side is dedicated to the food stall section. Some highlights in the food section are the ramen shack with the same proprietor of the ramen burger. The ramen shack is a small stall seating at the bar. The ramen is quite good. Had the Brooklyn style and spicey ramen. Both broths were really good along with the tender pork. The add on elements of a tea egg and the spices really make it a good bowl of ramen on a winters day. The tonkatsu broth really shines. Wowfulls another stall serves Hong Kong style waffle cakes but in this instance wrapped crepe style and filled with ice cream and add ons. The green tea wowfull with ice cream and mocha really make a great snack or dessert. In all the seasons smorgasburg in industry city is a great choice of venue.

*This review is specifically for Ramen Shack, one of the food vendors at the market*…read more This smorgasburg is not the same as the ones in the hipster part of brooklyn---here you'd see tall factory buildings, highways, no trees or grass whatsoever. The flea market is inside a building called Industry City. Follow the signs and go to the 2nd floor for goods and foods, and prepare to be wow-ed. It's like walking through a floor of shopping mall. In the end of the section, you'd find a bunch of food vendors and you can get you food to sit at the open area. You MUST go further down to find this INSPIRING and DELICIOUS vendor called Ramen Shack by Keizo Shimamoto (creator of ramen burger!). The shack is at the deep corner (you'd see the maroon banner). What makes it an awesome sauce is that...you can taste the passion and authenticity in Keizo's ramen. It's like something your family would make in Japan; it doesn't have the glamorous coating like the so-called Ippudo. Keizo has been making a variation of tonkotsu pork, shoyu and vegetarian ramen since his debut in Queens. I've been to his ramen.co at FiDi, the LIC location and now Sunset Park Brooklyn, and his stuff is still the same----same goodness (although actually I prefer the Shack-style ramen). His latest addition to the menu, Green Curry Soba is beyond words. There's a lot of history behind that bowl of ramen (google it). This is the 3rd time I tried green curry ramen: 1st at where I used to work (Bassanova NYC), then at Jin. What makes Keizo's GCS different is that the broth is just so smooth and yet you still get a kick of flavor. I only tried the GCS2016 with chicken and dashi broth instead of the usual pork, but I'm telling you, it was instant love at first sight and bite. In general: the ramen is just so fresh. You won't be disappointed with an egg. Price is amazing too (one $ sign).

It made my visit to the Bazaar all the more pleasant. I've been coming to Grand Bazaar for more years than I care to remember, having taken a break for ten -- okay twenty -- years. Can't put my finger on why, perhaps I'm not as interested as I used to be. While the market is vibrant and busy, it's not as it was. Perhaps not as much diversity in wares. (I used to get a lot of pottery, art and vintage jewelry.) Back in the day, my friends and I would go to the East Village and buy funky old fur jackets for a song. I kind of had that in the back of my mind coming here. (There are many vintage coat vendors.) But prices have risen considerably. (What hasn't?!) The market is open Sundays, year 'round. Despite buying nothing, I know I'll be back. (Maybe coats get cheaper when it's warmer.) Plus, I like strolling around on the upper westside, which has a different flavor than the eastside, where I live.

There was such an array of goodies from home goods to clothing to candles and more in all price ranges. Everyone was friendly and talkative about their products. I picked up some early Christmas gifts and I am so excited to show my family. I think this is such an easy way to get unique finds for an array of people all in one spot or just to shop for yourself. I heard they also carry some really cute vintage clothing so you can score really cute pieces here in a nice open air space so there's a relaxed shopping experience.
