Apria has been the most difficult company I have had the displeasure of working with. I received a prescription from my doctor for a travel C-Pap. After the prescription was rejected by my normal provider of healthcare equipment, I was redirected to Apria by my insurance provider UMR. My Doctor sent the prescription to the local Apria in Marshfield, WI. I received a call from Wendy at the local branch of Apria and was informed that I would have to pay out of pocket for the equipment as it was considered a "luxury item". I informed her that having sleep apnea was no luxury, and I was offended by this statement, and that my insurance company, UMR, had verified that this was covered under my plan. She proceeded to tell me she had been working in the industry for over 30 years and knew what she was talking about, but said she would check with her manager. I then received a call from Brad, who proceeded to tell me that this item was not covered by insurance and that I would have to pay out of pocket. I called UMR that same day and spoke to the head of Customer Service, and she was kind enough to call Brad at the Marshfield Branch of Apria to confirm this machine was covered. Brad submitted for pre-approval, and unfortunately, the pre-approval was denied because the coding provided by my doctor's office was incorrect. UMR was kind enough to call my doctor's office a few days later and get corrected coding submitted in a new prescription to Apria. I called Apria to verify they got it. A few days later, they called to let me know it was in process. Yeah! Finally getting my much-needed equipment. Today I got a call from the very nice Customer Service person at UMR to check on things, as they had not seen a pre-approval submitted for the machine. I proceeded to call the local Marshfield, WI branch of Apria to find out what was going on, and was informed they would not be processing my order, as they quote "Did not make enough money on the order through insurance."! This whole process is now going on 3 weeks and Apria Marshfield basically just told me to go pound sand. Unbelievable! I am sure Apria is a good company, but I would avoid the local Marshfield branch at all costs. read more

The most aweful customer service I have ever experienced. My husband needed a nebulizer machine asap. The provider sent the orders to Apria immediately. It took many phone calls, speaking to an Apria manager and three days before he finally was able to get it. The provider had to send the information to Apria three times. When he did finally go in to pick it up, nobody knew where his paperwork was and he was given wrong information on payment. None of the staff have a clue about how to do their jobs. When you call in you are treated like you are bothering them. It is mind blowing that any provider would use this company for their patient's medical equipment needs!! Apria needs to be shut down. They are not there for the patient and their attitude is horrible. They really dont deserve the one star that I am required to leave on this review. read more

Horrible horrible horrible customer service!!! My doctor sent them a prescription for equipment a week ago it was preapproved by my insurance and I am still waiting for the equipment because they,Apria, have 7-10 business days to even contact the insurance company. I have been calling them daily to see where the equipment is and they have been blaming the insurance company for not getting back to them then I contacted the insurance company and they said they had not received anything and they got Apria on the line and they confessed they had not done any of the paperwork yet and it would probably be 1 week yet before they would even look at it. I'm in the health care industry...(RN, BSN) and have never experienced such a lack of caring and empathy. Once the MD order was written for the CPAP... almost 3 months passed with NO communication from the Marshfield, WI office. Given the fact that the Marshfield office is approximately 50 minutes from our home in Stevens Point, two of their representatives insisted that we travel to their distant location for the instructions and fitting. Since our schedules do not afford the opportunity to spend time and wages, we were instructed to find a day-time appointment that corresponded with their office hours. And I quote, "well the health care industry is privileged to dictate that everyone else finds a way to schedule their appointments around the doctor's/ancillary staff"s convenient schedules. Certainly wish that both nurses and UPS driver's are able to give up their inconsequential income to accommodate a service provider. I guess that the needs of the Apria Healthcare corporation trump customer MD orders. Copies of this correspondence have been forwarded to both executives of Ministry Healthcare and Apria Healthcare. I encourage others to press their healthcare providers to conduct business with the multitude of other local agencies. Heaven forbid that you need respiratory help after traditional business hours.
