I parked across from this CIBC location, which was just about to close for the day at 5 pm. I immediately thought that the branch's hours of operation on a Saturday were decent. I visit RBC locations more often than CIBC ones. RBC branches tend to close at 4 pm on Saturdays. I went grocery shopping. When I returned to my car, I felt the need to check out this CIBC's drive-thru. The entrance to the drive-thru was right in front of me. I entered and did a right to get to the ATM. It was operational and accepts envelope-free deposits. The branch has two ATMs in the lobby. There's a lot of parking in front of this branch. I drive by this CIBC every week after work. I remember seeing this new branch open several years ago. I drive along Highway 27 to get home from…read morework. I had never been there and decided to give it a try over a year ago. I was promptly greeted by a female employee when I first walked in. I was interested in buying Chinese Yuan (Renminbi) for my trip to Shanghai. She advised that someone at the counter would be able to help me. Well, I spoke to another woman at the counter. She advised that it would take three days to order what I need. She was also not that helpful in telling me to go downtown and try the main branch. I'm in Etobicoke and I live in Markham. The main branch downtown would be closed as it was well past 18:00 and she had no way to look into the system to tell me whether this trip would be worthwhile. This experience does make me want to switch to another bank. TD Canada Trust employees can look into their system and tell you which branch has what currencies available. The problem is that I do not have an account with that bank. I would likely get dinged a bit for that fact. Anyway, I thanked both women, although I came out empty-handed. I will just make sure that I order the currency that I want at least a week before I depart. The drive-thru is oddly set up at this branch. The lanes leaving and entering the drive-thru ATM are extremely narrow. There are a decent number of parking spaces in the lot. (343)

I have been here mostly for the ATM use but once went inside to get a demand draft out. The lady…read morewas quite rude and didn't really understand what we wanted. And then when we finally explained to her a couple of times, she got ready to get the DD out. While I am okay with people not really being friendly but then they ought to be good at their work. This lady, even after writing down the name of the organization clearly on a paper made a mistake and had to redo the DD, but instead of apologizing for her mistake she gave a disgusted look as if we made the mistake. The second time, she again made a mistake in the name at a different place and had to redo the work. This time when we highlighted her mistake, instead of correcting it right away (let alone apologizing), she blamed it on us that we wrote the name that way. When she pulled out the paper on which we had mentioned the name, it was mentioned correctly and she was caught right there. She had to redo the DD again and luckily this time she got it right. While I do understand people having a bad morning and not really in a friendly mood but this was an honesty and integrity issue. You make a mistake - it's okay, it happens sometimes, we are all human beings. It's also okay that you don't apologize to the customer but then you just correct it the next time - not the end of the world. But it's not okay to not owning up to your mistake, and instead blame the customer for it. Never going to this place again.
