I walked into the shop and was instantly transported back 20 years to when I would spend my lunches, working at a liquor store, smokin' a stog with my lunch at the local shop where I lived. I was immediately greeted by Rose, who I asked to just let me stand there and take in the environment for 30 seconds. She laughed, but I think she got the nostalgic factors I was feeling. The shop is straight up old school, with leather couches, chairs, etc around for various smoking areas, and they were definitely being utilized on this Friday afternoon. I've already decided that I will be returning to partake in "enjoy(ing a) fine cigar + (and maybe) quality liquors in the comfort of your living room" in their gorgeous lounge. Now, we'll get to the nuts of the review, as Rose asked me what she could do for me and I said straight up that I was looking for a recommendation because I'm not really able to do that at local corporate tobacco shops as I am generally more knowledgeable than the workers. She immediately thanked me for just immediately trusting her judgment* and said, "Well, lets go where all the fun is." We entered the EXTREMELY well stocked humidor and I explained to Rose exactly what I wanted and a price range (that wasn't very limiting) and she IMMEDIATELY said "This is the cigar you want." Well, it was celebratory cigar that I smoked that day, and she was right. *In hindsight, after a little research, I appreciate Rose's humility as she's an ambassador for multiple cigar brands, and she actually DID NOT recommend one of her ambassadorial brands which is a real positive (and inspires me to try some brands that trust her). Though I have a feeling I may be a bit out there personality-wise for a lot of traditional cigar stores I hope to come back and spend some time in this beautiful establishment. read more

Was in town looking for a place to grab a cigar. I was extremely glad I found Appleton Souvenir and Cigar. When I first walked in I was greeted with a great big smile and welcoming hello from Rose. She walked me into the large humidor and was ready to assist me in finding the perfect cigar. After finding my cigar I grabbed a seat in one of the many comfy leather chairs throughout the lounge. Every single person I encountered both customers and employees were just as welcoming as rose. They made me feel like I belonged here. I also learned that they host game nights such as cards against humanity, cribbage and many others for a fun night of getting the cigar community together. If you're looking for a relaxing, welcoming, and amazing place to grab a drink or a cigar I highly recommend Appleton Souvenir and Cigar. There is no doubt I will be back! read more

Stayed at the nearby Hilton for a few days and found this cigar lounge to be in close walking distance. Went there for two visits. Lounge has a nice well stocked humidor and prices are reasonable. Couple of areas to sit and relax, watch TV, and have a cocktail. They do have a nice nice selection of drinks to purchase. The only downside is the big tubby fella with the beard. He would unlock the humidor door and allow me access. Then he stands there the entire time staring at me while I peruse the cigars. In total silence, very awkward. This goes on for 5-10 minutes and happened on both visits. I eventually spoke up and said "I'm not going to steal anything." Guy shrugs shoulders and continues to watch me like a hawk. Terrible experience. Employee immediately profiled me as a minor from the state attempting to illegally buy cigars before even asking to see an ID. Offered little to no help in the humidor despite being a beginner, all while insinuating i was going to steal a cigar. Pressured into tipping for customer service comparable to a Walmart employee. Overall left with an unwelcoming impression and a desire to buy my cigars somewhere else. read more

Wow what's gem, went in and they showed me where all the cigars I wanted were and then had many good recommendations!!!! We spoke to the owner and his wife about different flavors, I like madero where my friend liked lighter wrap so the showed him some and we left there happy with a great stash of sticks!!! read more

First off I would like to say I really enjoy coming to appleton for the hookah experience. I come as much as possible. I drive frome oshkosh. Tonight (9-15-2014) I came in with a few friends and enjoyed a bowel. After two of them I left a friend and myself paid for another one. I know from experience it takes a while to heat up the coals. After about 20 minutes of waiting and seeing the coals red hot my friend and I told the worker we were just going to leave. He let us just walk out with out even a sorry or a refund. He looked to busy to care about us, he was just smoking a cigar and sitting down with other guys. This was my friends first experience at your establishment and he was not impressed. You can meet friends in the lounge and play poker, watch movies or just hang out. There is a small bar on the premises and some top shelf liquors. ** This is a review from a Hookah smoker, not a cigar aficionado ** I was very pleased to find a place in Appleton to have a hookah. I knew beforehand that this place is more a cigar place, but I decided to go nonetheless. The place looks great, service is cordial and efficient. The only brand available for shisha is Fantasia -which is not bad. I'm just not used to it. As a hookah smoker, I'm not used to have a after-smell in my clothes as the smoke is usually light and fruity. However, this place is a cigar place and it's a VERY CLOSED place, so the cigar smoke is thick and the smell is intense! So, after a short while, I had to leave. The cigar smoke was burning my eyes (and I was far from where the cigar smokers were). Worse, now I'm impregnated with a strong cigar smell. So, if you're up for a cigar, this place may be great (I can't tell), but to enjoy a hookah as you do in a real hookah bar, this is not the place. read more

Walked in tonight, no greeting from the shop keeper. When in the humidor, guy (I guess the one working) says hi and asks if I need anything. I tell them browsing, he says nothing grabs a stick for himself and leaves. Doesn't even try to help. A few flies in the humidor, which is just annoying. So I decided not to buy at this establishment. I have travelled all over the U.S. And this is the first time in a lounge that I felt like a nuisance for the shop keep. Who was more interested in smoking with friends than helping a new customer. The good things, which is the only reason why they get three stars, very nice selection of cigars and at very good prices. I've been a cigar smoker now for ten years. When I travel, I love going to the cigar lounge. I believe that is where you get the vibe and feel of the real city. Walked in with my wife and received a strange look from a guy ( apparently an employee). He was in the back smoking cigars with some other men. Finally approached counter to help me. Not personable in any way shape or form. Poor selection of tobacco pipes and tobacco. Pipes for sale are factory seconds with no brand stamp as they couldn't pass inspection. Having a place to buy a good cigar, smoke it there with a drink and enjoy good company is priceless! This is a "must stop" place for my wife and I whenever we're in Appleton (wife not required!). Prices are reasonable and ventilation is usually ok. Friendly and lots of regulars. Lots of accessories for cigar and pipe smokers....cigarettes are a no-no. Pretty decent selection of cigars. The experience was pretty blah though. Typically, I have had cigar stores comment on my selections "Good Choice" or "You might want to try this one instead", but this person simply rang up the order and said nothing. I asked if the store had any special events or promotions, as I was knew to the area, but was flatly told "not really". I guess being the only legit shop in Appleton lets the customer service lack. read more
