Got there, place wasn't busy at all, had 10-15 tables open. Sophia (the hostess) with the cane was rude, impolite, and expressed how it was gonna be a 45 minute wait, overall she just needs fired, after our encounter. Ronald (the waiter) needs a raise, so a fantastic job. Music is blaring, way to loud, can't even have a conversation with the person sitting next to you. Watched Sophie get in a fight with multiple different customers, and customers leave solely because of her attitude. Flabbergasted on the rudeness and power trip of this woman. Place was completely out of steaks, bartender is slower than my 96 year old grandmother. Overall, will never be back to dine in this establishment I would rate it 1/2 a star, but it won't let me. TL;DR: My friend and I go to eat, only to be accused of theft and have the police search us and find nothing. DON'T EAT AT APPLEBEE'S, AND IF YOU DO, DON'T USE THE RESTROOM!!!!! My friend, Amanda Stafford, and I went to Applebee's Grill & Bar in Grand Island, NE this evening at about 8 pm. When we got there, Amanda told me her drink order and went to the restroom. I ordered our drinks, and when Amanda returned, we ordered our food. We ate and chatted. As we were finishing our entrees, I decided to order some chocolate cake for dessert, and we both began to try get the attention of the servers working. No one would pay us any attention, but we were patient, continuing to attempt to get the attention of anyone employed in the restaurant to either order dessert or bring us our check. It was obvious that people saw us, but they continued talking amongst themselves. After about 20 minutes, I noticed our server at the entrance to the restaurant, accompanied by what appeared to be friends or coworkers in pajamas, and the manager. I said, "oh, look! Maybe there was a reason we were being ignored!! I wonder if someone walked their tab or got fired and has to be escorted out or something!!" Then the two Grand Island Police Officers came to our table and asked us if we knew why they were there to talk to us... We didn't, and we told them so. Then the officers asked amanda if she had been to the restroom, and she stated that she had. We still had no idea what was going on, and at that point the officers told us that a server had left her apron in the restroom and that she and "some other people" had noticed that Amanda was the only customer who went in the restroom. When the server returned for her apron, she reported that the money it contained was missing. They then asked to see Amanda's wallet, because they wanted to make sure that she didn't have the same number of bills in each denomination that the server had reported missing. When we asked repeatedly if what was happening was legal, the officers did not answer, but continued to request to search Amanda's purse and later my personal car. When they were unable to find anything, BECAUSE WE DID NOT TAKE ANYTHING, they returned inside and advised me NOT TO TRY TO LEAVE WITHOUT PAYING!!!!!!!!!! I had been trying to pay and leave at that point for almost an hour!!!!!!!!!! I loudly requested the manager, more than once, and she finally brought our check to our table, giving us the honor of paying $36.80 for an hour of being detained with major embarrassment and unnecessary harassment. Not once did she offer any kind of apology, except to state that she was not the person who called the police. She may not have made the call, but she was certainly front and center making accusations. This situation was poorly handled by the restaurant staff and the police officers who responded. I haven't eaten at Applebee's in a long time and this was my first in a long time. This would be a 1 star review if it wasn't for our server, Ian, and the Manager. When we arrived, we were seated right away. Ian came over took drink orders, gave recommendations and was very nice. We're picky, so we took a bit to order. But this is where the fun times end. We were waiting probably 20 minutes before Ian came over and explained that a system issue caused a delay. We were fine, it was date night. A bit of a delay is ok. I ordered the Unsmothered Fajita and my wife ordered the Chicken Parm. Her order came and it was fine, we didn't like the recipe of the sauce nor the noodles, they tasted weird, just ok, not great. We didn't complain about it as we had already complained about my food which arrived covered in queso which is a type of cheese which I cannot have (I had asked Ian to make sure that it wasn't on there) and someone who wasn't Ian said Queso isn't Cheese, but I still can't have it and it wasn't what I ordered. They gave me a my meal for free since I had to wait so long. Ian was cool tho. Really liked him as a server. I'll probably go back, just not often. Visited today 5/22/2020 for lunch. Ordered through the app on my Iphone. Very easy to order with various selections available for lunch that were appealing to my co-worker and I. When I arrived and "checked in" with the link that was sent to me via text, my order came out within 2 minutes of me arriving, correctly bagged, with the silverware in the bag (I didn't even have to ask for it, and still hot. And before you sign me off as a cranky killjoy, no, I'm not one that thinks you shouldn't have fun at work and enjoy the company of your co-workers. However... Could the staff just rest their jaws? Even for 30 seconds? The entire time I was there, there was non-stop, totally unnecessary, talking, yelling, noises, and childish/unprofessional banter among the staff that was totally unrelated to work. There was nearly constant yelling from the kitchen area. Including (inexplicably), just the name "Linda" over and over in various tones...some sort of inside joke, I'm sure. The restaurant was not busy. The bar was not busy. Yet the entire bar area was full of dirty glassware. Meanwhile, the bartender just sort of wandered around and chit-chatted at her co-workers instead of tending to the mountain of glasses that needed washed (with the exception of the two she washed while she yelled over top of me at a waiter on the other side of the restaurant).
