The Grace Place pre-school on Salerno Rd. is small and NOT a well run program. The teachers and…read morestaff are friendly enough and generally good to the kids. Children seem to like their teachers, but for parents, expecting excellent programming and good communication I have to say, for such a small operation, to be poor in basic communication and programming is inexcusable. There are a number of on-going, very unprofessional kinds of behaviors. 1) Besides the fact that the director is a self-aggrandizing person, she lacks organizational and administrative skills that are required for such a position (or maybe just lazy); In any case, a director should be totally on top of programming and communication for every class and this one is not. The office often acts caught off guard on questions regarding programming and activities. They consistently do not do a good job communicating important information to parents. 2) Because there is not a good email protocol set up to notify parents about upcoming events or classroom activities, parents can easily miss needed classroom information. Most classes post upcoming things on a board, but if parents being busy, don't take time to stop and read a bulletin board, they may miss something important - & while that's nice to post things on a board, parents shouldn't have to read a bulletin board to be informed about classroom activities. 3) Parents, on multiple occasions, are left in the lurch and made to feel like it's their fault that they are unaware of activities - it is a most inconsiderate treatment toward the people paying the bills. If parents don't ask questions and manage their own communication at Grace Place Pre-School they'll find themselves out of the loop on necessary information. 4) Educational programming is hit and miss (inconsistent instruction) and kids are left in free-play for a significant portion of the day. It's far too unstructured - just too little productive instruction, even while they advertise and boast excellent programming. A good director would host a staff professional development study on effective pre-school programming - not engage in self-promoting of their own little publication. 5) The high staff turnover here is indicative and evidence enough of a poor quality pre school program. If you're looking for a strong pre-school education in a faith-based Christian program, there are some in the area that are heads and tails better. Hopefully Grace Place will take to heart the numerous criticisms lodged against them and seek to improve - they are a convenient location to TCCA school and for that reason we have used Grace Place this year - it's made drop offs & pick ups quick and easy at two different locations. Too bad because we would have loved to stay, just too many issues and frustrations throughout the year.
