This year we installed a grid of Tesla solar panels and PowerWall so we could make use of the clean energy tax allowance. I felt just a little out of my depth and with 'significant' tax liability the last thing we wanted was to mess up our filing so we did not get the full benefit of the credit. I discovered J & S on Yelp and I'm so glad I did. Hugh was so easy to work with, friendly and approachable, and highly capable taking our best interests to heart. I've never seen a more complete and methodically assembled tax filing and he discovered errors in one of our previous year's filings which we will be refiling for since we are still owed a refund. This tax year we are looking at a very sizable refund from our taxes and we are a peace knowing it was all done correctly and nothing we could have benefited from got over-looked. We won't be doing our own taxes from now on but will depend on J & S to take care of our tax filing needs.

The person who helped us was certainly pleasant, but it really felt like she was just filling in numbers for what the software asked without necessarily having a lot of extra knowledge. We had a few weirdnesses with our tax situation for this year, and the person who helped us didn't seem to have any idea how to deal with them nor how to even look up what to do. I honestly didn't feel like she knew any more than me, and that I could've done exactly what she was doing for $500 less by just using TurboTax online again (and some Google searches). But what made things worse-- H&R Block promises to look over your old returns and see if you might get some extra money back. I left my old returns with the staff member. I inquired one month later and two months later, and each time, she "hadn't gotten to it yet". I asked that they just forget it and mail me back my forms. They never did. It's now been over 8 months, and my old tax forms are still MIA. I've tried calling the office, but my calls just go to the central H&R Block number and I can't get to this office (where my forms are being held hostage). Do yourself a favor-- just do it yourself with TurboTax or other software... I wish I'd listened to the other one-star reviews on Yelp about this place...

A few FYIs: - Their REGULAR business hours are M-F, 10 AM to 7 PM. Yelp lists their extended tax season hours (9-8), so beware and call ahead! - I was given an initial estimate of 10 minutes to notarize documents. This must have been PER DOCUMENT, as we ended up being there for an hour!! - They only accept CASH (again, except during tax season). This would have been extremely helpful to have known up front. - When I came in the front door, a friendly, elderly chihuahua rushed to greet me. I loved this, but it's worth being aware of if you have allergies, fears, or tend to take a long time going through doors. ;) The dog was not there the other time I've been in.

But as…read morefar as getting your taxes done right by a friendly employee (specifically Michele) then this place is a good option. It would have been 5 stars if it wasn't so like...messy. Either way Michele was very knowledgeable and very friendly which goes a long way with me. She will go above and beyond to get you the best and most accurate information. If I was just rating Michele it would be 5 stars; if I was just rating the storefront it would be 2...maybe one. However the point of the place is to get your taxes done and for that you can rely on this place. I will say this though, if your taxes aren't complicated in any way and are very straightforward, you should just do them online because this place ain't cheap. You're looking at between $200-$300 to get your individual taxes done, so keep that in mind.
