My wife was shafted by GoldCo charging $8,000 for $4,000 worth of silver. I gave GoldCo a scathing Yelp review and GoldCo refunded the $8,000. I haven't had any customer service experience. I never had to call APMEX ... probably the 609,000 people using eBay to purchase APMEX silver haven't had any problem with their purchases. I have to wonder who makes all these negative claims on Yelp. Perhaps the silver-gold selling scammers such as GoldCo!? Something doesn't jive. I have been at long time customer of Apmex, since 2013. The company tells me I am a VIP from the amount of money I have spent with them. My last order took approximately 5 months to complete. The order had gotten lost so they had to do an investigation into it in which case the coins were never found. Apmex sent another order, some of the worst coins I had ever seen. They were obviously circulated and were also damaged. Sent those back and did get replacements that were so-so, going to keep these so I can be done with the company. I understand accidents happens but the bad part about my last transaction with them is how they treated me on the phone when I called to inquire about my order. Tiffany in claims was incredibly rude and condescending. Another representative hung up on me when calling back to trying to get a different person on the line. I am a regular silver stacker. I understand the market has recently experienced unprecedented demand. However, APMEX has provided the WORST customer service of all bullion merchants i've dealt with. I ordered silver on 1/09/26. My order was lost by FEDEX. APMEX uses the cheapest ground shipping, so FEDEX was unable to tell me where my package was. Things happen. I opened a claim with APMEX on 2/3. Investigations should take "12-14 days" according to APMEx. I received last correspondence from APMEX regarding this on 2/13. 2/27 i wrote to inquire the status - NO RESPONSE. Today 3/5/26 i finally had to CALL to be told they decided to refund me on Monday - would have been good to have informed me of this. In the time it took APMEX to tell me they didn't know where my package was STILL, i received 2 silver orders from SDBullion (also priced cheaper). This is by far the worst customer service experience i've had purchasing bullion online. Absolutely DO NOT recommend this "reputable" merchant. They completely bungled my purchase AND screwed me out of the profits from the spot price of silver on the date of my puchase. They send me to "validation" to verify my Mom's address and it is NOW that I'm told, if it's not my "actual" address, they can't deliver, zero exceptions. I'm truly surprised by many of the reviews here, and my heart goes out to anyone who has had tragic issues with package delivery. I'm reminded of when a mail carrier decided to sign for my iPhone herself and then just leave it on my porch (directly in front of the door, not even tucked away in a corner), when I was home and ready to sign for the package. Luckily, nothing bad happened to my phone, but if it had, I would have had no recourse. Due to that experience and others, I chose to get mail service for more secure deliveries. Even this is not foolproof, as not too long ago a crypto cold wallet that I ordered was delivered to my mail service outside of its hours of operation, and the carrier just left it outside where anyone could take it (surprise--someone did). After some investigation, I found that the wallet company (Trezor... why protect them with anonymity?) uses a carrier in my location that is not established or reputable, so they delivered at 3 am, with predictable results. APMEX has used USPS to ship my metals, and while the U.S. Postal Service certainly has issues, they do not, to my knowledge, attempt deliveries in the middle of the night. (If a tracking update shows activity at odd hours, it's likely related to internal processing or scanning, not an actual delivery attempt.) I have received all of my packages from APMEX safe and sound, shipped in the promised time frame and packaged well. I am happy with the quality of the gold and silver itself, as well as the ability to observe value fluctuations. APMEX provides a portfolio tool in your account that shows when you bought the item, at what price, and what the item is currently worth. (For example, I can see that the gold bars I purchased in 2022 have nearly doubled in value.) It is good to have this information organized and easily accessible. The portfolio feature also allows you to input details of metals that you may have acquired outside of APMEX so that you get the full picture of your holdings and not just those from this company. I'll be honest, though. These reviews spook me, and I might look at JM Bullion for a future purchase. Recent purchase of gold was never shipped. Several dates were delayed. Credit card began accruing interest from date of purchase. ApMex will not take calls for transactions under $10,000. Was selling some odd size pieces of gold back to them (all purchased from them. The price they offered was low.. but I wanted to test the waters with a sell back to them (only around $3,000). I was told it takes 2-3 days once received before my funds are sent. After 1 week, I called and they confirmed it had been received and they are a day or two behind. I called again in 3 days, they said tomorrow. I called again the day after that and They said Tomorrow again. Now I can not get through on the phone, My emails are not getting responded to, and the online chat does not respond. I'm going to give it to the end of this week and then will hire an attorney. I have been a customer of Apmex for over 20 years although it has probably been 10 since I've bought anything from them, reason being that when I attempted to do a buyback (sale) about 8 years ago the offer price was SO low that I was insulted by their meager offer. A month ago I contacted Apmex regarding a large collection of coins from my late father's estate. There were many unusual items including world coins, ancient coins and a number of PCGS and NGC graded coins, as well as some commemorative sets. I furnished many photos and descriptions and followed up with several phone calls. Eventually I was put in touch with a "specialist" whom I contacted several times to provide additional photos to assist them in their bid. My emails and calls now go unanswered and I have since given up on getting a response. I will not mention the name of the individual because I do not want to cause any problems for them directly but the total lack of service and disregard is unacceptable. Fortunealty, there are other more reputable and professional companies out there who will be happy to get my business. After this last experience, I will continue to be an EX customer of Apmex. Yes, they are one of the largest, if not THE largest online retail coin companies but their buyback department has been a complete disappointment. As a buyer I give Apmex a high score. They started adding a city sales tax to all bullion purchases, even though I live in an unincorporated area that is not subject to city tax. This is clearly stated on the city's own website. When I contacted them directly, the representative was rude, unhelpful, and couldn't provide any valid explanation or source. I can purchase the exact same products from many other reputable dealers with zero sales tax. APMEX already charges higher premiums, and now they are adding unjustified taxes with no transparency. I ordered 2 ten oz Ag bars and 1 one oz platinum Britannia. I confirmed that it had to be sent via certified mail with signature and the lady reassured me. Never received it. APMEX said they can't do anything because the tracking showed that the parcel was delivered. I rebutted that it was supposed to be delivered via certified mail but the repeated that records show it was delivered and theres nothing more to do. The BBB sided with APMEX too. Don't trust APMEX.
