After choosing what I wanted, she wanted me to give it to her to take to customer service until I was ready to check out. So, not only was I treated as a potential shoplifter when I have been a good customer to the local store my entire life, but due to the somewhat sensitive and private nature of the product I was after, I was also embarrassed by the exchange.
