As a local neighbor I complained to them in emails about there lack of snow removal during a blizzard a couple of weeks ago at 2917 Quadra street. I almost fell on my butt trying walking on the side walk. It was well after the city demands snow to be removed from sidewalks. I have gotten nothing back but threatening emails and harassment from the property manager Laurie. Completely unprofessional. Never an apology or statement saying they will do better. Just harassment and threats. Like that she has informed the city about me. Good cause I complained to the city about them. I never sent any sort of harassing email to her and was simply concerned of a property management company not meeting the civic duties. As well as the possible chance that the elderly or young would slip and seriously injure themselves. Stay away from this company at all cost. She has a superiority complex and clearly should be working with the public. I guess that is what happens when the tenancy rate is 1 percent and she feels she can talk down to anyone. read more

My partner and I lived in the Apartments R Us Rithet location for a few years and our experience with the company and manager were horrible. It has been months since we moved out and we couldn't be happier with our new living situation. However, we still think about the awful experience daily. The unprofessionalism conducted by the building manager was on the verge of unbelievable. Throughout our years at the location we heard countless occasions where the manager was yelling and screaming at tenants. Our experience upon moving-out found us in the exact same situation, and we were prepared for the coming fight! We did everything within our means to make it a smooth process for everyone without any altercations. I found myself getting screamed at by the manager because she was incapable of having a conversation with another person. We never met a single tenant that had a good experience with the building management. We never had a single complaint, rent was always paid on time, and we always conducted ourselves in a respectful/quiet manner. To be treated like this was absolutely unacceptable and completely unprofessional. Avoid at ALL cost! If I hadn't done my research on tenants rights and regulations for BC I have NO doubt we would have been scammed and cheated out of our damage deposit. read more

Everyone who has to deal with this company should be warned that they are terrible. Completely unprofessional, slow and unresponsive to not only their tenants but their business associates as well. All of my dealings with them have been a struggle and they've attempted to cheat money from me and many people I know on multiple occasions. Avoid at all costs. read more

I've lived in a building run by this company on Quadra for over 2 years. There is definitely slim pickings in Victoria as far as pet friendly rentals, which is why I have stayed for so long. Over the years I have had a mix of prompt fixes (hot water tank, after blowing, was replaced the next day), and delayed. When I had a shower tap break it took them well over a week to come fix it (had to shower at the gym). In the building itself there is little to no maintenance. The plumbing is old and the hot water runs with a brown tint to it. There was a lot of garbage that sat in the back parking lot for almost a year before it was removed. One of the tenants in the building lets his dog poop on the front lawn, no one comes to clean it up, and no one makes an attempt to reinforce a "clean up after your own pet" rule. About 2 months ago they took our only dryer away (there was one communal washer and one communal dryer for the entire building, 7 units). The dryer has still not been replaced. Again, they don't really care. I called once to ask about it, and the woman I spoke to was extremely rude (not my fault you guys suck at your job!). Two weeks ago part of the buildings eavestrough broke/blew apart in a wind storm, which they haven't cared to fix. There is cleaning staff that come once every other week, but they only vacuum the front carpets, which are stained and badly need to be cleaned. They have never been cleaned in the two years I've lived here. They don't clean windows, again not once since I've been here. There are also bug guts on the walls that have been there for way too long. I could clean these things myself - but with 7 units paying $1000 each, or more, - there is more than enough profit for this company to maintain the building. Over the two years living here, I can say the hot water is dirty, the plumbing is crap, we can't dry our clothes (still don't have a dryer!), and the front yard literally smells like poo. This rental company is are either too lazy, too cheap, too disorganized, or a combination of the three, to care to fix theses problems. They are also miserable to deal with. There were a few good employees that I met in the past - but they seem to have moved on to a better job. This company is crap, but if you have a big dog, need a pet friendly place and can suffer through the bull-sht, it's sufferable ;) . There are great parks close by! read more

Be warned with ApartmentsRUS. They are a dirty dirty company. Their management is as use full as a chocolate fireguard and their apartments are way overpriced for the hell you will receive in renting one. We moved in during renovations on our property and was given promises of numerous essential items such as double glazing, washer dryers, new balconies, complete redesign to the outside, insulation in the walls and so far these have all been lies. Also to mention is that so much work needs to still be carried out to the property for it to be up to standards let alone classified as safe. Let alone the fact that no work has been done for a couple of months. If you think that is bad how about living for half a year with all the fire extinguishers, fire hoses, emergency lighting and all other essential equipment all expired. Let alone the fact the fire doors are not actually fire doors. As fast as the apartments were renovated expect to see dodgy piping that bursts under your floors, dodgy wiring that your cable/telephone installer cant even work out, and fittings and features that fall apart as soon as you look at them. They look nice and expensive but are really cheep and cheerful. When you report any bad conditions or failures or even ask for repairs you may as well sort it out yourself cause you will die of old age before you get a reply or repairs to be completed. The apartments look great. Absolutely stunning, but do not get drawn in like the majority of us with a great looking apartment and super sweet promises cause seriously, this apartment will drive you crazy! I hope my review is help full but please dont take my word on this or do not let this discourage you. Come for a viewing and take a look for yourself. You will see what we mean. THIS is a bad, bad company. Be warned, and stay away from these people. I lived in a building on Collinson Street in Victoria B.C. and this "apartments r us" company bought the building and claimed "renovations" in order to evict long term tenants and jack up the rent. AKA this is a RENOVICTION company. Look at what they are charging for their crappy old buildings with cheap ugly "luxury" decor. They are finding a way to scam people as best they think they can. read more

I have a couple of friends who live in Apartments R Us buildings and I have never seen a worse property management company (not including the slum SRO's of the city). I know that several of the tenants have made numerous complaints to Apartments R Us over the years and none of them seem to be resolved. In one building, the outside doors don't lock and I've run into the odd homeless character looking for a warm place to stay in the stairwells. In another building, the heat is turned off in the spring and they often forget to turn it back on in the fall, they've had rent cheques lost, tenancy agreements lost, and repairs seem to never be done. They also seem to cost about $100 more a month than anything comparable in the rental market. I'm glad I don't rent from them and hopefully someone will pursue a complaint with the tenancy branch (if any current tenants are reading this, please note that many of these things are clearly illegal and you would easily have a case). I'm hoping that I can save someone a lot of stress by finding a more responsible landlord for their housing. read more
