OVERVIEW
I had just finished a tour of Uffizi and was hungry. I had heard about this place from a friend of mine who had visited Florence. So I decided to go. What an experience.
ATMOSPHERE & AMBIENCE
The location was a small place, with few seats and a very rusty Italian Delicatessen. These are the places I can tell are great as their focus isn't on gimmicks but the food. So don't expect something extravagant. It's close and homey.
FOOD & PRICING
The pricing for my sandwich and drink ended up being thirteen Euros which wasn't bad given how piled on the sandwich is.
I got the Porketta type B which included Porketta, peppers, and smoked Gouda cheese. Extra condiments cost more but honestly I didn't need it anything more.
The sandwich was divine. Never in my life have I had such crispy bread and a soft interior. Focaccia was my bread.
WARNING: THE BREAD DOES HAVE PORK FAT IN IT.
The server very kindly notified my family and I was appreciative of her. Most of my family are vegetarian except me.
The Porkchetta was supple and tender with an awesome Smokey flavor. The peppers were crisp and the Gouda itself paired well with the veggies and bread. I do wish I have gotten some pesto on it but honestly, the bread to meat ratio was great.
This sandwich did NOT skimp on the meat. You will feel full in a good way. The only negative is that the sandwich was a bit messy but I will take a delicious mess over clean mediocrity any day of the week.
FINAL VERDICT.
I can't judge the other famous sandwich place down the street but this place was great. You get a lot for what you pay for, you can sample the meats and the staff was friendly and attentive.
I definitely recommend it for those who want a good sandwich experience in Florence.
