I originally purchased the Planet Fitness membership due to the original…read more hours they offered. Since then, and of course I understand the pandemic changed things - but that is not what I am referring to in this post review. I am unpleased with the hours changing all the time. I get up at 3am and get ready for it to open at 4am , and when I get there it is closed until 5 am M-F. I do not have time to work out going in at 5am - as I am sure everyone else that goes in at 4am has the same time constraint as well because they have no other time of day. The hours on the weekend have decreased, and to be honest it is unacceptable. If there is a scheduling issue I would suggest the manager re arrange his schedule to cover the necessary hours for customers instead of 8-5 or whatever he normally works. If you keep decreasing hours I would bet 99.9% the business will not survive here in Plainview, Texas. I don't like posting anything other than good reviews, but in this case, I just don't have another solution. Yes, I have plenty of professional equipment at home and another gym membership in Plainview, but I do enjoy going to PF, but not if this is going to remain the way you operate business. I am posting anonymously due to fear of retaliation. Sorry but it happens unfortunately. Please accommodate your customer needs.

I have become increasingly disappointed in the YMCA. I was embarrassed to see the state it is in…read more Below are photos of the basketball goals. There are 6 basketball goals at the YMCA. Often 2 of the 6 are retracted and not in use. I have been given obviously lame excuses why the goals couldn't be lowered for use. Today only 1 goal was retracted. However, only 2 of the 6 goals had functional nets. One goal had exposed wire and is clearly an injury hazard. SEE PHOTOS. There have been numerous complaints about unsupervised children in the gym. Parents and children who are working on their basketball game find it nearly impossible to do here. Unfortunately, there is little alternative, in Plainview. In my experience with the YMCA leadership, I did not get the sense that the customer was a priority. I would like to see high school sports excel in Plainview. Having good sports facilities to keep the interest and excitement of the children is part of the formula for success. It needs to be a community that supports the kids. The YMCA needs to play their part. If we accept mediocrity, that is exactly what we will get. If we expect excellence, then nothing else is acceptable. However, the current conditions at the YMCA do not currently rise to mediocrity. Strive to do better for all of us.

I don't have a gym membership. No gym I've been to has given me a reason to purchase a subscription…read morecompared to what my apartment gym offers. While visiting Amarillo, the hotel gym I had access to was not cutting it for me and my routine. In my two long stays in Amarillo, I would constantly pass by the Contagion Athletics building and consider giving it a go. Last week, through all the dust, fire, and terrible dryness that Amarillo offered me, I bit the bullet and grabbed a $20 day pass just to try it. Immediately, I knew I'd buy a membership if I lived in Amarillo. You walk inside the spacious gym to find a large turf field, plenty of strength equipment all spaced from each other where it doesn't feel like you're ass to ass with your neighbors. There is so much strength and weight equipment to use from the rigs, the plate-loaded equipment, the free weights, competition-style weight set-ups, deadlifts, and more. Plenty of cardio equipment is on hand too, including 9 StairMasters and tons of high quality treadmills. They have a small looping cushioned track that I ran 3 miles on, which felt fantastic on the feet and joints. On top of that, they supposedly offer massages, saunas, personal trainers, a cafe, a barbershop, and car detailing. To a point, you don't need to go anywhere else. I got a great workout in here and the energy is great. There are tons of windows that face Business 40 and the rest of Amarillo so you get a ton of natural light. The temperature is comfortable in there which is great because some gyms are way too hot for no reason. Lastly, the space is just beautiful. CA is open 24/7 so you can always get a workout in. Anytime I'm in Amarillo, I'll be sure to give them a visit because they are worth the price of admission. This makes any gym feel like they're playing in the minor leagues in comparison. CA is in a league of its own. RIYL: The Mecca of Gyms

It's…read moredefinitely a nice gym and has everything you need for a solid workout, but that price feels a little steep, especially if you're just passing through town and only need a quick session. If that's your situation, you might be better off checking out another gym or using your hotel gym if it has one. As always, if you want to give this place a try, go for it. Just know you'll be paying $25 for the day, and there aren't any discounts for veterans or first responders, there are many other places that do offer discounts if that's your background. One more thing, the saunas should really be on and heated up. After a workout, it's a bit of a letdown to head over for a quick sauna session and realize they're not even running yet. Yes, one can turn them on before you workout so they are ready but then you might be met with someone else already using it.
