I found this bookstore while wandering around El Rastro flea market in the heart of Madrid. Don't expect a Barnes & Noble style bookstore or something that is very pretty, stylish and serves coffee where you can sip it sitting in a comfy armchair. This place is about books. Period.
This place is FULL of books! I couldn't wipe the smile off my face seeing them everywhere - on the shelves, piled up on the floor, spread out over tables and even out front of the store. There were even loads of them in a supermarket shopping cart with a big sign saying that any book there was only 60 Euro cents - which isn't even a US buck! As a matter of fact there were many, many cheap books and even one section with English titles.
If you read Spanish and collect books, this is obviously the place for you too because there were some pretty expensive, old books too which I imagined to be rare finds.
You can even find tons of old magazines such as National Geographic, some Paris Review mags as well as others in a few different languages.
I would suggest that you go there on a Sunday morning so that you can also enjoy the weekly Rastro market at the same time. If you love books like I love books then you're going to spend some time here. read more
