One of the best experience I've had at an antique place in a long time! I've driven past this antique place probably hundreds of time and for some reason never stopped in for whatever reason. Well today I had some time on my hands and thought I would check out what sort of old and interesting stuff I might can get.... The place is huge but you can't tell from the outside. They got everything from colonial farming tool to vintage Barbie dolls. I found at least 3 rotary phone and two typewriters....A Royal Mercury and a Royal HH standard with plastic keys circa 1950's. Both the typewriters were in working condition and they were priced about $50.00 but Charlie the owner said he's flexible on the price... I really want a Smith Corona clipper from 1948-ish but I suppose I will have to keep looking but have no worries I ended up with a harvest gold with faux walnut and chrome accent 12 speed Sunbeam mixer with original glass bake bowl and beaters for $22. (How did I do with describing the item? I guess if my yelp writing career doesn't work out I can become a Sunbeam mixer sale man!) I can't wait to come back and see what else old stuff I can buy to junk up my house! Happy Antiquing! 1481st review 7/20/2018 401st for 2018

Really nice elderly gentleman met us and gave us a brief overview of the store. They have a great selection of all things old. Definitely worth a visit.

Cotton Mill Exchange - Beyond cute!

Even if you're not an antique mall kind of girl, trust me -- you're going to love Cotton Mill…read moreExchange! I have been here probably a half dozen times, and it's one of my favorite places to browse. Cotton Mill Exchange is 45,000 square feet - yes, it just keeps going and going and going - filled with furniture, home decor, clothing, and accessories from local artisans and merchants. However, it's all beautifully curated and merchandised with no sign of the overwhelming and cluttered vibe of the traditional antique mall. I'd recommend a minimum of an hour to quickly browse Cotton Mill Exchange. But to be honest, just make a half day of it! With so many new shops and restaurants opening up at The Mill on Etowah, this is quickly becoming an area where you'll want to make multiple stops.

I'm not sure how many vendor booths they have. Maybe 200 or more!! And every one is more adorable thank the one before. If you can't find it here then they haven't made it yet. Lol. I was impressed at how clean and organized this giant of a place was. And how well it's being run. They have little coffee stations, water and soda machines along with snack tables to keep their shoppers hydrated and energized. The employees are so nice and polite. Will help you find exactly what you looking for. Such a very pleasurable experience! I'll definitely be back for more exploring and purchases.

"With junk, timing is everything"…read more It was meant to be. Here I am driving around looking for something very specific, with no specific destination in mind, and one of said item catches the corner of my eye as I'm driving down Highway 5 into Ball Ground. Well what do you know? They had exactly what I was looking for, in the size I was looking for too! Was it meant to be? Well, I bought it and took it home* *What was I looking for you ask? A vintage, cast-iron, 70" claw-foot bath tub. By vintage, I mean REALLY vintage. I did some quick research from my pocket computing device, and based on the numbers cast into the tub, it was from 1897. I walk inside to see what the price was, and we made a deal! All of the match feet were in the tub, and to be expected, the tub was rough, so the price matched the condition. The gentleman I spoke to was direct, courteous, and willing to deal on the price a bit. When I said that I took the tub home, what I really meant was that I took the tub to a tub refinisher shop immediately. They even commented about the condition of the tub, and the vintage as well. With a little luck, and sweat-equity, anyone can find these rusty gems. With places like Rife Salvage around, I think my imagination could run wild... at least until my bank account caught up. Places like this need to exist today. Otherwise, items like what I bought that have a story, and real intrinsic value are lost. People need to be able to stick "junk" outside their shop in hopes of finding new owners to tell new stories for the future. We still stop in about once a month to see what else they have that we possibly could rehab or reporpoise (sic). These guys are great to deal with, and are constantly rotating stock of items. Support the local guy!

But what I love best about Rife is that they can and will custom make items for you based on your vision. I wanted live edge wood shelves for my great room and had an idea on the size and materials I wanted. Eric at Rife drew up a sketch, helped me pick out a nice slab of wood for the shelves, and Tim constructed it! And with the left over wood from the slab I chose, they built a nice little live edge table! I am happy that Rife is literally just up the road from me and constantly has different things to consider.
