He was able to tell me the difference between brands and models and show me various model issues on machines in for repair. Then he showed me two machines that would work for my needs, but this was not a high pressure sales pitch. He was perfectly neutral about a sale, which made it easier to decide. Once I'd made my choice, he showed me which replacement bags I'd need and accessories I might want. Again, this was neutral. Super easy check out because his prices were better than online, and I enjoyed working with the owner.

The prices on what I did see was on par with the area, but the lack of organization and messy layout was a bit of a distraction. I'm sure they had a whole lot more stuff I never even noticed or knew was there. It definitely is a cute antiques shop but I would definitely need a whole day to poke around a likely a few trips to the building to really get a feel for what they had and a better idea of what they are as far as being more geared to kitsch, memorabilia, decor, straight up antiques or all things vintage. The owner of state it was placed on the website Thursday morning of the day the auction closed. However I didn't visit the main page of the auction site just my bid pages, therefore I didn't know. When I called to find out if they were available for me to pick my item up I was informed the address would be on my final invoice. According to the owner even though my initial invoice sent and was received as normal the other one kept bouncing back. Therefore they charged me a fee for transportation of my item. Despite my attempts to explain that not picking up the item at the address of the auction was not my fault, and I had in fact communicated with them and tried to obtain the address; they didn't care. Therefore I will no longer do business with them because something's always a pain in the ass with these guys.

Well today I happened to be in Michigan for ONE DAY and stopping by this stand was on my must-do list for the day. My plan was to pick out a handful of new oils (in addition to getting the usual) while I was there in person and had the opportunity to smell them rather than randomly choosing them by name off the website. I went to the mall, approached the stand and saw that there is now a "Moon Goddess" oil sitting next to my fav. I picked it up, smelled it and couldn't decipher much of a difference. So as I weighed the options before me I asked the woman (who is the owner and who has been running the place for eons), what the difference between the two were. She snapped back with "the oil recipes are a trade secret so I don't supply that information". WTF? I have zero interest in going into the small town kiosk oil stand business. I was expecting something like "this one has a sweeter scent" or "that one has more of a woody aroma" but no, I was rudely yelled at for asking a completely reasonable question. She proceeded to be rude when I asked for a larger bottle than the one she was getting ready to pour it into. Wait, isn't this your business that you run and make a living at? Why on earth would you treat your customers this way? Thanks a lot you bi-ach. You have completely ruined my long running love for your little oil. I put it on as I left and decided that I'm tossing the bottle. You took something that was nostalgic in my mind and turned it to something I don't like or want anymore. I guess you have saved my friends the trouble of getting this for me in the future because I will no longer be a customer. I'm being generous with 2 stars because the oil is pretty decent. One time I had an issue with a carpet cleaner that was sold as working condition and the tank had a small crack, I was given a full refund and got to keep the item. I've purchased from Flint, Waterford, & Livonia. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. The only thing that would be nice to add is better quality pictures of the salvage pallets.
