You can find virtually anything Japanese you want in Sawtelle. It's easy to find parking and often free parking. It feels so much safer than downtown. My two most frequent businesses, Daiso and Nijiya Market, are in the same building. Right across the street from that building is another small strip mall with many restaurants. I highly recommend that you visit Sawtelle if you haven't already to experience Japan while in Southern California.

The service is always helpful, and there are some nice spots to sit and enjoy the vibe (including the fun top-shaped chairs). This…read moremuseum is definitely an art experience worth visiting with iconic figures and street art that paints Mr. Brainwash's (Thierry Guetta) main mantra for the museum, "Life Is Beautiful" which is dedicated to honoring imagination, joy, creativity and inspiration. It's his own work that is displayed but he also references artists work such as the famous Banksy and other artists. A friend told me that the documentary, Exit through the Gift Shop, is connected to this museum. I have yet to watch but will do so to gain more understanding. Apparently, it was free museum day because there were hosts at the door greeting and letting visitors in. That was nice. It wasn't too busy but a good crowd to where I had to wait for my turn to take photos. It's three levels including the rooftop where more artwork is held and a view overlooking Beverly Hills. They also have a gift shop with unique items for purchase. I bought a cutesy pen with an engraved quote on it. To add, I was instantly moved by the creativity and effort they put into this museum. It brought a lot of inspiration. The art work gave me ideas of how I would want a part of my home to look like. It was a fun visit and would recommend for anyone wanting to dig into their imagination and enjoys art. The room had a minimum of 9 people which we were NOT told and they charged for 8 people and that was the "discount" . I believe other rooms were available. Rather than teaching a generic routine, he created a completely custom choreography for the song we chose and thoughtfully tailored every step to match our skill level. As we improved, he adapted the routine to challenge us while always making sure we felt confident and capable. One thing we especially appreciated was how much he cared about our progress. He regularly recorded videos of our lessons so we could watch ourselves improve, which was not only motivating but incredibly helpful for practicing between sessions. Seeing how far we had come over time was such a rewarding experience. We also attended David's group classes, and he brought the same incredible energy to every lesson. He's an outstanding teacher who creates a welcoming, supportive atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable learning, regardless of experience. One of the most thoughtful things he did was arrange for us to perform our routine during the Thursday night open dance, giving us the chance to practice dancing in front of a crowd before our wedding. That experience did wonders for our confidence and made performing our first dance on our wedding day feel so much more natural. David doesn't just teach dance--he builds confidence, celebrates your progress, and makes the entire experience genuinely fun. She builds on to the basics and adds on skill sets based on your ability. This was our second session with her. Last time we worked on the waltz and the fox trot. This time we worked on reviewing along with some cha cha & jive. You will be lucky to get her as your coach for the private lessons! She is so great at explaining and showing you as you go for those hands on learners. She's a gem!

whoohoo, first review! stopped by this gallery after eyeing some nice art pieces in the window and…read moredecided to check it out. as i perused around, i saw lots of street art and cool knick knacks displayed by artists i weren't too familiar with...but after talking to the owners about street artists that i liked, he was able to point out a few prints and pieces in the back of the store that were on sale. the owners were really chill and were kind enough to show off pieces from their own collection that they were selling. they also had a few prints by Shepard Fairey and other artists for sale as well. i ended up buying a Cryptik- Eastern Philosophy book, which was sold out online and so it was a pleasant surprise to find here. definitely a cool spot to check out if you're into contemporary/urban art!
