Amongst the cafes and designer fashion shops on Oxford Street, sits Anne's Secondhand Shop. It is absolutely filled to the brim with everything you could possibly imagine or want, plus a whole lot of stuff you don't need, but can't resist buying for kitsch value. Everything from old musty books, retro kitchen ware and dining sets, framed pictures and various knick knacks. They also buy second hand goods too. It's not your usual op shop filled with unfashionable clothes. I felt like a bit of a bull in a china shop, there is stuff piled so high it barely left room to browse. The furniture in this place is so ample it's climbing up the walls and its windows are littered with doilies, china sets, and vintage clutches that this place is giving a new lease on life. This place is teaming with furniture and bric-a-brac just waiting to be bought and loved all over again. If you have anything to sell you can take it on in to Anne's Secondhand Shop, or you can pick up something for yourself. Anne is definitely my kinda gal. A horder, collecter and purveyor of fine vintage goods, you'll be trapped at Anne's for ages sifting through it all. Going into Anne's feels much like heading into your dementia-fied granny flat. You don't quite know what's going on, but you do know it will be interesting. There is a hodgepodge of goods precariously stacked on every surface. (Everything from old teacups, creepy children's toys books, shoes, furniture and various home wares.) The prices can get a bit steep for second-hand goods (Think $40 for a pair of shoes) but it's worth it when you get to take home that one of a kind item. I am in two minds about Anne's Secondhand shop. On one hand it looks incredibly intriguing. On the other, it kind of looks like someone's grandmother is having a garage sale. Where else would you find ceramic dog statues? Needless to say, it is not exactly my style of giftware but if you like tea cups, shoes and furniture, it is worth a look. If you enjoy rummaging, it is possible to find some decent books hidden away. I think the shop provides a shopping experience of discovery, rather than a more mundane pick up and pay type. read more

What a charming little mishmosh of preloved goods this place is. From the outside it doesn't look like the highest quality place, but inside is such a jumble of random items that if you appreciate these kinds of things, you can't possibly walk by without going in. I absolutely love the sagging bookcases along the walls, full of aging books. There's some less enchanting items, like kids toys and books that are actually in good condition. But that wall to your left when you walk in, with the endearing bookcases and old framed pictures is what makes this place. read more

It's absolutely fantastic, and if you can't find your way through the maze of marvels, just ask Anne as she knows esxactly what she has and where to find it. I have sent many a friend there searching for oddities and ALL of them have been successful with items ranging from old books to metal teapot caddies and missing cups from Royal Doulton teasets I myself recently found a fantastic hat and a great picture frame, (the latter saved me over $250 otherwise to get one made to size and glassed). Allow lots of time however as it is a total 'trap' once you get in as you keep finding things you really do need...want...or just generally desire! read more

An interesting store but everything is so overpriced. There is so much clutter in the store, you really don't know where to start looking. Some corners are actually two or three layers deep so there is no way you can browse items against the wall. It could look a lot nicer if everything wasn't piled on top of everything else. I felt like I was watching an episode of 'Hoarders' where people collect things for 50 years and pile them up on tables and against walls. A good spring clean and more realistic prices would work wonders for this store. read more
