As a patient of Dr Oscherwitz for over 12 years, I must give a different prospective. It's long.
For year and years I couldn't hold a job without succumbing to such despair that I would jump to some other job. (Yeah, the job history looks less-than-great on my resume.) I felt that I was being singled out, undermined, and was despised by my managers and peers.
I had seen a couple of psychiatrists who prescribed drugs that left me feeling wrapped in cotton candy but still raw. Dr O assessed my mental state and suggested different course of meds. She has worked with me for all of these years to identify the best "cocktails" of drugs that make me feel "teflon".
With Dr O's ongoing, attentive and incredibly patience in helping me sustain a good chemical balance, I really like to go to work. I enjoy my bosses and colleagues. I offer my employer great value because I produce results/profits and interact with my colleagues well . My reports think I'm the cat's meow (except when they're slacking without cause) because I listen to them, give them opportunities to grow and throw myself under the bus for them when needed - all things I could not do before Dr O started working with me.
She has tweaked my meds over the years as some drugs lose their effectiveness or cause side-effects. She's been careful with changes to make sure I don't crash and burn, but has also been really progressive in how she's treated my illness. (One of the drugs I take now is used mainly for people with epilepsy, but it works incredibly well in keeping my feet on the ground. Who'd have thought?)
And, despite being in-office two days a week, she is amazingly accessible. Plus, when I lost my favorite job to-date - thank you recession - and ran out of insurance, she agreed to reduce her rate temporarily for which I am grateful.
All said, Dr O's the complete package. She's never going to pat your hand or ask you to go back to your childhood when she first meets you, but she's very good.
By the way, she does look like really young. So, when she shows you into an office and then sits down, don't be shocked since you thought she was the receptionist, ok?
BTW - as an individual practictioner Dr O does not process insurance papers for you - you'll submit directly to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. read more
