Kiva and Alex are truly masters at what they do. My husband and I first saw their work when I was a bridesmaid in a dear friend's wedding, in which they happened to photograph. We were really impressed with them and decided to hire them ourselves! Hands down the best decision we made for our wedding day. We purchased a package that included an engagement shoot, so we had the awesome experience of getting to work with Kiva twice. Our circumstances were a little different than most couples, and we asked if Kiva would be comfortable doing a family shoot with our two daughters as opposed to an engagement shoot. He went all in on that idea and took stunning photos of our family!! Leading up to the wedding, Kiva reached out for several finalization phone calls to go through a timeline and make sure we ironed out the essentials which was incredibly helpful. On the day of the wedding, Kiva and Alex were incredibly professional and knowledgeable, and had the creative eyes to really capture the whole essence of our perfect day. Our DJ even sang his praises to us at the end of the night. My husband and I didn't have to worry about a thing, we let the professionals do their thing and do their thing, they did!!! We booked with Kiva Sutton in July 2019 for our daughter's wedding for 6/27/2020. Due to Connecticut Covid19 restrictions, wedding date was changed to 9/5/2020. Unfortunately, he was not available for that date. Despite his contract stating that our deposit can be returned for any cause beyond the control of parties which a pandemic is something out of all of our control, he refuses to return our deposit. I even told him to keep $300 and arrange a payment plan sending us an agreed amount on a monthly basis until we receive our full refund. Kiva has ignored our calls and emails. He has ignored attempts by the Better Business Bureau and the Connecticut Attorney General's office to resolve this issue. I would not recommend using Annandale Photography and doing business with Kiva Sutton. read more

Kiva is a great photographer -- my husband very quickly connected with him over Kiva's equipment, being very much an avid photographer himself :) Kiva is very professional and has a great eye for capturing unique moments, and was responsive throughout the wedding planning process, answering all of our questions and addressing our concerns very quickly (when he wasn't traveling abroad on other engagements!). On our wedding day, he was very engaging and humorous, which made working with him a great experience. I would have to say that he is a bit pricey -- however, if you are looking for good photography and a great experience taking photos on your big day, he's a great choice. read more

My husband did a search for a photographer and Annandale was the first one to pop up. The company had great reviews so we decided to meet the photographer in person. Kiva was exactly what we were looking for in a photographer. We wanted someone who would take unconventional pictures and really show some creativity when capturing us on our special day. We loved his energy, his passion and the pictures he showed us from other weddings he had shot. The lighting and the angles made pictures pop in a certain way that we hadn't seen before. We left his office and decided that even though we did not see anyone else, we were going to hire Kiva. It was a great decision! The day of the wedding, Kiva kept us on schedule. He took a lot of great shots of my husband and I, the bridal party and the groomsmen at the hotel, in a nearby park, walking down the street and on the grounds of where we were to be married. The only thing that we would have changed is that we wanted to do family pictures before the wedding along with our "first look" pictures. That would have saved time after the wedding where we could have joined everyone for cocktail hour a bit earlier instead of taking family pictures at that time. Kiva and his assistant took about 900 pictures that day. What was truly amazing was Kiva put together a slide show of pictures taken earlier in the day that our guests could watch and enjoy during the wedding! He also surprised us with a mini album before our wedding was even finished! Within two weeks (maybe sooner - can't remember) we had the pictures in our email. I couldn't believe how fast he was able to get the pictures to us. He was so reliable and made our wedding even more memorable with outstanding pictures that we can keep forever. The pics are amazing, the professionalism was superb, and Kiva and his team hustle to ensure the best possible photos are taken. I 100% do NOT recommend this photographer for your wedding. Here is my experience with Annandale broken down by Pros and Cons: Pros: Seemed like a good company. The owner, Kiva, had multiple photographers working with him and gave me two for my wedding day. His photos and website seemed well done. He was a recommended vendor from my venue. Cons: I should have known things were not going to go well when Kiva kept calling me the wrong name. He was difficult to get in touch with over the phone and almost impossible to reach through email. It felt like I was playing phone tag and babysitting more than getting anything done or planned with him. As a bride planning the various aspects of the wedding the was utterly frustrating. The two photographers I had were James and Kerri. Their photos were not very imaginative or original. Also, my husband's uncle had offered his boat for photos before the ceremony which I told to James and Kerri I wanted to use and they never used it. Instead, they wanted to bring the wedding party to a bug infest "beach" that was a swamp with a tiny bit of sand on it. The entire wedding party was getting eaten alive by bugs. It was terrible. The photographers took photos with my husband and all his groomsmen individually; however, when we received the photos back there were none of my husband and one of his cousins. I know the photos were taken because I literally watched them being shot. I emailed Kiva about the missing photos and NEVER RECEIVED ANY COMMUNICATION BACK. Totally unprofessional move. The photos they took outside after the ceremony were positioned so each group was facing into the sun. Needless to say all those photos have people squinting or completely closing their eyes. They're basically useless photos because of the squinting and closed eyes. Also during these shoots the photographers had people remove their eye glasses (sunglasses I would understand asking to remove, but eye glasses?! Come on). The people without their glasses on a) don't look like themselves and b) are looking at nothing because they need their glasses to see so they had no idea where they were supposed to be looking. Not what I was expecting, especially for the price paid. During the reception there was a point where I was being held in the air by a group of people. It was amazing, but was it captured on film? You guessed it, nope! Apparently James was in the bathroom and where was Kerri? Unsolved mystery. The point of having two photographers was to not miss photo ops like this. Again, extremely disappointing. When we received the photos back, some were touched up, some were not. It was weird to see a mole or blotch on someone's face in one photo and then gone in the next. Consistency would have been nice. In summary: hard to get a hold of, unprofessional, missed great photo ops, inconsistent results in photos. read more

Kiva is a very energetic and creative photographer! My husband and I wanted to take some wedding portraits at Yale. While we were shopping for photographers around New Haven, Kiva kindly offered long shooting hours with a very reasonable price. He was also very flexible with the time. It turned out that Kiva knew the campus very well and gave us wonderful suggestions for shooting. We wish there was a way to give more than 5 stars! We could not be happier with our choice for a wedding photographer. From the second we talked on the phone until our big day was finally here, Kiva was great to work with. He was very easy to get in touch with along the way and extremely helpful in letting us know what to expect the day of our wedding. He also helped us plan the timeline for the day to make sure we had all of the pictures we wanted. His vision and creativity are unbelievable! We did so many non-standard wedding photos that were not only fun to take, but so much fun to look back at! The final outcome was absolutely stunning AND his personality made our day that much better. Kiva and Kurt helped to make everything so smooth and effortless for Matt and I on our wedding day. We had a major issue with the transportation about 20 minutes before we were supposed to leave, and Kiva was great at helping to distract me by taking more pictures while the rest of the bridal party helped to work it all out. He also made the process of taking pictures on a hot and humid day much more enjoyable for the group and had us laughing almost the entire time! At the reception, he displayed some of the photos he had already taken on a computer he brought, and the reactions from our family and friends were priceless! There were jaws dropping and ooo's and ahh's coming from around the screen and so many people approached us to say how much they loved getting to see the photos. He also gave us a mini-album before he left which was awesome for us to look at, both at the end of the night and the following day with our family and friends. If you're looking for a photographer with amazing ideas, stunning photos, and someone who was beyond enjoyable to spend your big day with, Kiva and the Annandale team are without a doubt the photography team for you!
