Then I saw they opened another in Ipanema and shortly after another in Leblon. This type of place seems like it would do well here. This store is not quite as large and doesn't have the display of the working portion of the bakery behind the window like the flagship store but it's less cramped and has a similar decor. I got a classic mille-fueille pastry and a cappuccino (they top with chocolate and cinnamon if you like). Both were quite delicious. There were only one or two pastries of each kind left, which is good because they don't make more than they can sell for the day, but still had a decent selection. I also got a loaf of Italian bread and will try it tomorrow with my meal. I'm excited they opened this branch out in this neighborhood.

Initially, I went in to ask for help finding a bank ATM and the cashier was very patient with my Google translate plea. Long story short, my ATM card did not work at that bank but we stopped by later for a coffee and something sweet. Lots of locals and tourists enjoying an afternoon treat. Service was slow but hey- we were on vacation!

Service was quite slow and the food we ordered took quite some time to come. Overall, the food did seem to be decent quality - and eggs were not too greasy. Fruit salad was also tasty and came with a generous serving of papaya. Overall, not outstanding, but if you are looking for a basic breakfast to fuel you for the day you can definitely find it here.

We got a few different ones to try and the bread here is super fresh. Highly would recommend the sweet pastries. The salty/ savory options were decent as well. This makes it easy to split the bill at the end because each person has their own number. I had an omelette with tomato and oregano and it was really nice. They accommodated my gluten-free/vegetarian request and took out the presunto and the queijo minas and didn't even complain. I also needed to buy a bag of manjioca flour (random) so they let me buy it directly from the kitchen for a normal price so I would give the service an A+. The breads and quiches look amazing and made me wish I ate gluten. Oh and the cakes just looked divine. All of my friends seemed to enjoy their orders. I didn't make it to the 'store' part of the restaurant but they sell wine and snacks almost like a classy 7-11. The ambiance was just really nice. I think this place compliments the new modern vibe in Humaitá and Botafogo and I am going to go back.

Entirely unassuming at Santa Clara Street 122 in Copacabana, Bela Cake could easily get lost…read moreamongst dozens of other Snack Bars were it not for a welcoming display and friendly customer service, a small line of locals prompting closer inspection on Friday and the results universally impressive despite low prices. Open from 07h00 until 22h00 daily, and conveniently offering English translations for items ranging savory to sweet, it is only after taking a long look that first timers should consider placing an order, Pao de Queijo sold by five crisp with an airy center and Quibe with a variety of fillings highlighted by lightly fried Beef made stretchy by Cheese. Familiar at this point with some of Brazil's Cakes, both Lime and layers of Coconut glanced over in favor of three others, suffice it to say Bela Cake's Carrot outperforms most despite *looking* sloppy, bits of Vegetable pairing well to liquid Cocoa while Corn and Manioc slices are both restrained in sweetness but moist and delicious - particularly when considering the whole lots' R$34 price.
