Just a quick update on one of my favorite shops in Evanston. While the pandemic and my own…read moreprecaution level has prevented me from taking my weekly trips here to spend a good hour or so digging through all the different bins (you never know what treasures you may find), I will say their social media game is killing it. They're great about posting "Friday flips" on Instagram to show what's new, and posting throughout the week with new books, vinyl, and other items that come in. They're really quite creative with it as well, so it's always entertaining to watch and still get some weekly Squeezebox content virtually. And, they make it super easy and tempting to DM them when you see something you like to have them hold it for you -- I've done that a few times on an impulse when I see something that captures my attention. All the staff here are awesome as well. Highly recommend!

There were so many incredible gems to be found, spanning every single genre. I ended up purchasing a couple of James Taylor records, a Bad Bunny record, Hilary Duff and an obscure country music record. They also had a very thick guide to the town of Andersonville available for free which I found just totally awesome. It was jam packed with info about a ton of local restaurants, activities and local events. The staff here were super knowledgeable, happy to help and downright great. The original store on the east side of the mall was downright palatial and included a Starbucks café. The second location facing Old Orchard Rd. was downsized and plainer, but still open and airy. The newest iteration is even smaller. I imagine most customers will focus on the well-curated selection of books and other merchandise, and also the bright lighting. What I observed was a claustrophobic warren of small rooms with low ceilings, minimal seating (I counted 6 chairs and 0 tables), and sadly, no café.

It's always…read morefun to browse, and the store is very attractively laid out, with book covers gleaming and beckoning like inviting gems. I found a new book from my to-read list, coveted a cute display of Studio Ghibli merch, smiled at the witty cards, and soon my companions and I amassed a stockpile of items to purchase and so they gave us a nice tote. Maybe next time we'll skip dessert and head straight here (must check hours to see when the bar is open).
