Always friendly, courteous staff. Great place for grooming services too. The only problem I've ever had is sometimes they are out of a certain dog food or the size I want. Other than that it's a great local place to shop! read more

I love supporting local businesses but they make it sort of difficult to support them... customer service is so bad. I've been patient and have given several chances. I understand we all have bad days. However, it's every single time I go in there I just get this cold shoulder. A lot of the times the workers just stare at you like you're crazy. They don't greet you when you walk in. It got to the point where it is uncomfortable to go into the store because it just feels awkward and unfriendly. It's very unfortunate because the store does have a good selection for food, treats, etc. Hopefully they figure something out because reading the other reviews has brought to my attention that this has been an ongoing issue. read more

Very disappointed in the treatment of the beta fish, but I appreciate how much better they've done at taking care of their reptiles. Maybe 8 years or so ago, it was the worse place I've ever seen in terms of how they took care of their reptiles, but it has become much better on that front. But in terms of customer service, it's so bad. All three employees I saw today seemed inconvenienced by me even being there, let alone asking for help for something. I had asked to hold one of the rats, and I'm aware they are there as feeder rats for reptiles, but I was looking to get two as pets as I've had them in the past, but the way the lady handled them disgusted me. She had pulled one by its tail to get it closer to her to pick it up, which can cause literal spinal injuries. Maybe she thought I just wanted it as a feeder, but either way they're treated horribly, let alone the conditions of where they're kept in. And the rabbits as well, how they're kept all together in the tiniest enclosure is insane. You'd expect local businesses to thrive to be better than chain pet stores, but apparently not. I do appreciate how they support the local shelters though by helping fund things like the pet food pantry on Desiard, but the negativities of the customer service and enclosures weigh quite heavy. read more

They are always helpful to me. I have purchased a lot of animal friends from them. Love these guys! Thanks They have a great group of groomers too! read more

This place had the most disgusting smell I have ever smelled. I wasn't greeted, and I didn't want to leave my dog there, but I had an appointment. They made me feel like I was getting on their nerves by being there. It was so cold and dirty; never again will I purchase anything from there. Then, when I picked my dog up, they just stood there watching me and didn't say a word. Pitiful, pathetic, and disgusting. I woke up sick the next day from whatever. I was exposed to in there . I DO NOT RECOMMENDED YOU TAKE ANY FOG THETE FOR ANYTHING. read more

Animal House - Pet Stores Near Me - West Monroe, Louisiana

Love the selection of fish! Always receive super friendly help. Live seeing the store grow and expand its selection of creatures.

I attempted to get in contact with the owner. He never answered my request. DO NOT TAKE YOUR FURBABIES HERE FOR GROOMING! PLEASE! The groomers failed to follow my instructions. My dogs were not bathed. Just doused in doggy perfume. Teeth were not brushed. The cuts were not even nor blended at all. One dog's tail was not cut. Their genitalia were not properly groomed. Anal areas too close and pee area not touched. Nails were barely cut. When these concerns were brought to the groomers attention, they wanted to start over after having my dogs for 3.5 hours. They charged $80 when the website quoted $60. This is the worse grooming we've ever gotten and we've been all over the country. read more

Would highly suggest buying your pet products, pets, and grooming services elsewhere. Poor customer services. Don't go in there if you have a breathing condition, they'll still try to make you wear a mask too. Trying to shop local, guess I'll go to PetSmart. read more

I have been looking for someone who can really groom a Bichon the right way without my Carly looking like a poodle or they ended up shaving off her hair. I made an appointment with Christy from The Animal House and she reassured me that she's been grooming Bichon. When I went to pick up Carly and Cooper, Christy did not disappoint me. I am so pleased. She did an awesome job. She did great with Cooper too. She did what I asked. Definitely, recommend her. read more

Took 3 yorkies in for haircuts. All three have been groomed there multiple times. One received a haircut, the second maybe a bath and the third one had a strip of his back shaved and couldn't be groomed. I was charged 18.50 for a bath even though he didn't get bathed. $100 for services and I need to have 2 of the three re-groomed or actually groomed. Terrible service and ridiculous prices for what you get. read more

I shop there when i am in town. The dog food selection is good. However, the service is poor and I have experienced rude and unprofessional employees on my recent visit. The stores odor was stronger than usual. I'll take my business to other retailers. read more

They have an average selection of fish but, a lot of products for just about any pet you might have. They carry a lot of high end dog foods and great selection of toys and bones. Staff was very friendly and communicate well via email; I'd definitely recommend the store to anyone. read more

We had appointments for our 3 dogs between 7-9am, by noon they hadn't even started on one of our dogs. They had said that they'd all be ready between 1-2, then came back and said it would be between 4-5pm. The manager argued with me, and gave unacceptable excuses for their poor performance. We will NOT be going back! read more

This locally owned pet store is far superior to the big chains. Friendly and knowledgeable staff make your shopping experience easy and fun. They have a better variety of fish at reasonable prices. Shop here before you head to the corporate giants. read more
