Zero Accountability…read more Quartet failed to recognize a post-operative emergency, prescribed a conter-productive treatment and forced a 2-day delay that allowed resistant infection to take hold, resulting in limb loss in 18 month old cat. I took my cat for a revision tarsal reconstruction surgery on Sept 2, 2026. The surgeon, Dr. Duffy, was aware of a potential ongoing infection, and noted a degradation in bone quality and visible discoloration around the initial orthopedic implant site. Despite clear warning signs, and elevated risk factors (recent and multiple courses of clavamox) he kept my cat on the same antibiotic she was on after the prior failed surgery (clavamox), instead of upgrading to a more powerful/broader spectrum antibiotic such as doxycyline or marbofloxacin. My understanding is that marbofloxacin is commonly used as a postoperative prophylactic in felines as I had another cat prescribed this proactively after abdominal surgery. I still have no idea why Dr. Duffy didn't prescribe marbofloxacin or doxycyline since he was clearly aware of an elevated infection risk. Dr. Duffy neglected her high risk history. I was instructed to keep my cat crated and her bandage changed once every 7 to 10 days. About 4 days after surgery, my cat stopped eating. I reached out to Quartet and was brushed off by the front desk, assuring me that my cat probably just needed an increased dose of pain medicine. Nobody looked at my cat's chart which indicated a likelihood of infection risk. When I called back to speak with an actual vet and not a front desk staff, I was told to "listen to your voicemail". The Quartet office advised masking symptoms without examining the surgical site. The Quartet office failed to triage anorexia for a post-operative cat. Delaying care for multiple days is an unacceptable timeline for an anorexic cat. On Sept 10, after having my cat's bandage changed by the local vet who was deeply concerned about the condition of the surgical site, and indeed entire leg, I immediately drove to Quartet to have Dr. Brinkley evaluate my cat's situation. Dr. Brinkley offered to perform amputation that night (prior to establishing my cat's systemic stability, blood loss capabilities given her anemic state, etc.) and offered no plan for recovery care over the weekend (which she would likely need) I declined this haphazard "shoot from the hip" amputation option. On Sept 11, I took my cat back from Quartet and met with the hospital manager, Kathleen Moran. I explained why I lost confidence in the Quartet group - from neglecting my cat's high risk history, masking symptoms that should have been examined, and failure to triage anorexia. Each time, I was met with the most pathetic excuse for an apology (and mantra of someone who truly does not care in the slightest...) "I'm sorry you feel that way". No effort was made to provide compensatory care or resolve my concerns, except that Ms. Moran stated the employee who told me to "listen to my voicemail" would be written up. Well, I'm sorry to say that will not save my cat's leg from amputation or pay for the additional surgical costs. Any competent veterinary clinic knows that a post-op cat refusing to eat requires immediate evaluation. Especially given her high risk history of repeated antibiotic use. Receiving culture results 8 days after surgery, when typical culture times are 2 to 4 days is a major failure in diagnostic evaluation. I can't urge you to avoid Quartet enough based on my experience with the hospital manager alone. Her patronizing and petulant behavior reassured me of my decision to never consider Quartet and write this review to warn others of the experience I had. Ultimately, I took my cat to VEG who were absolutely awesome. VEG then referred me to NC State and was able to get my cat seen that evening. After speaking with the vet at NC State, it became clear the shoot from the hip amputation approach Dr. Brinkley suggested was highly inappropriate due to my cat's anemia, low red cell count, and other systemic instabilities from acute resistant infection and refusal of food. Ultimately, my cat lost her limb due to the negligence, incompetence, and failure of diagnostic judgement of Quartet surgeons and clerical office staff.

Due to Garner Animal reasonable prices and caring staff and vets, it is a very popular place which can get extremely busy.

My two are absolutely crazy, so it has been important to find someone who understands this is not unusual and doesn't make me feel terribly incompetent over the situation. They remind me of scheduled needs, such as shots or purchasing heartworm meds. They sedate my older dog who can't stand having his claws trimmed. They don't pressure me to get every single thing possible, but instead offer and let me choose. I sometimes take them in for kenneling and I can tell they are well cared for while there. I trust them.

We have been bringing our dogs to Cary Veterinary Hospital for over 10 years, and are now searching for a new vet. The office has changed hands several times in recent years, and has become increasingly pushy about services and their Paw Plan. It never covers any blood tests or other extra services that seem "necessary" when recommended by the vets....but it was our experience with our two senior dogs that sent us searching for other care. Our one dog was 12+ years old, and had the Paw Plan with added dental care because she always had issues with her teeth. Before her last cleaning I directly asked if she was maybe getting too old for dental care with full anesthesia, etc, because she was slowing down. The vet told us if her bloodwork looked ok then it should be fine. After the cleaning she immediately experienced a series of complications where she refused to eat and was looking very ill. The vet kept recommending anti-nausea and food supplements, which we paid extra for, trying to get her to eat. Long story short we had a couple of very rude interactions with the desk staff, and they sent us rushing to an emergency vet who discovered a ruptured tumor, and she had to be euthanized. While we got a sympathy card from the emergency vet, Cary Vet never reached out to us about this other than to email us a bill for the rest of the Paw Plan - for over $700 - for the year because we used up all the services before paying off the yearly plan...even though the last service was a poor recommendation by the vet and our dog died afterwards! Because of this shock we cancelled our other senior dog's pet insurance, and delayed bringing him back to them. When we finally took him to see them for some arthritis pain, the vet was very condescending to us, insinuating we were ignoring his problems and were neglectful dog owners. We are definitely done with Cary Vet. I understand having to pay the bill, which we did, but the callousness with which we were treated by the staff was really the last straw.

I can't speak highly enough of Care First. I have been taking my rabbits there for a year or so…read morenow, and I've been very happy with them. Their prices are reasonable, and they provide advice without pressure. They have an app that makes refilling prescriptions and scheduling appointments very easy. Recently, due to an untreatable health condition, I had to put one of my rabbits down, and the staff was beyond caring and considerate throughout the entire process. One vet tech even brought bananas in for my rabbit on his last day. Overall, I felt they went above and beyond to make him as comfortable as possible. Because of this, as long as I live in the Triangle, I will continue taking my rabbits to Care First.

The receptionist with zero empathy or interest robotically informed me there were no appointments today. I asked about emergency situations, to which she replied she didn't think this was an emergency. Excuse me? The other receptionist told her to ask in back. She went to ask in back and came back to say they would see her but charge double the regular fee. For people that are in the business of taking care of animals it really felt like they gave zero shits but were more than happy to extort me during an emergency situation. I went immediately to care first just 2 minutes down the road and they immediately saw me no questions asked and treated the situation with care and concern. I'll update my review on what they charged, regardless I appreciate the care and concern I received from care first. Never again oak heart...more like heart of stone. Also train your receptionist to do better. Update: my dog got a venomous snake bite on her front paw. I'm glad that the quick action and care by care first was able to help us. Now the bill...so they didn't charge us any weird emergency mark up visit fee, but we did incur significant costs in x-rays and ultrasounds before they determined it was a snake bite. We also had overnight care, antibiotic and pain med costs. All in I paid just under $900 for this incident. That's good money oak heart would have made had they treated the situation appropriately. Bad manners and bad business.

I knew it was going to be a challenge to get her in the carrier but i had no idea it was going to be that bad. Two hours of hide and seek with Jade winning hiding under, behind and running faster than i could follow. Hubby finally got her in the carrier, and it was time for the ride, just to add to the fun Jade my poor abused cat was complaining at full volume. I know she was expressing her displeasure in 4 letter words. Finally arrived at VCA Cornerstone vet. With Jade howling my parking was horrible and gave Dr. De Silva a chuckle. I did ask for a dart gun like they use in zoos to anesthesia the animals but was informed i didn't run a zoo. Any this whole rambling is to share what a wonderful vets and staff they have there. If you need a vet you can't go wrong with them.

We moved recently and I called the office to see if they can forward his medications to our new address and we waited and so as our pup corgi. Nothing came and finally called and find out they just deactivated his refill because we moved . I just wish they had communicated to us or instructed us what to do . Disappointed for their lack of concern and communication. Hopeful they can step it up with their customer service in their front office .
