I decided to make reservations the day of being that it was Valentines Day. Thank goodness I did! This little restaurant had no more than 10 tables. We were greeted by a sweet German lady who spoke English (phew)! We began with some sushi rolls and miso soup with a side of rice. Loved every bite of it... Especially the crispy rolls that were covered in tempura pieces...mmmmmm! As far as their sashimi, the quality was on par and it was definitely fresh and not "stringy/veiny." They're udon noodles were good, too. The portion was large and a good variety of veggies accompanied it. After tasting the soup, I knew it was a Chinese chef who made it. This was definitely a Chinese soup base, not Japanese. No matter.. Still tastes yummy! I was a bit disappointed to see their only desert was a Japanese moon cake. In my head, I was expecting a Chinese moon cake but it turned out to be Mochi. Japanese rice flour candy with a filling inside. You can buy these at any Japanese supermarket or bakery. I've never heard them referred to as "moon cake." Maybe this is a German term??! Who knows. All in all, it's still 5 stars. Good, friendly service, good quality, tasty flavored, and modern, clean decor. Wish it was in my neck of the woods :/

I'm not sure if it was an off night (Monday night), but I was disappointed and underwhelmed with the selection and taste of the sushi. The service was ok, one of the chefs was extremely nice, and the location is very good. The restaurant is on the smaller side, and the ambience is cozy. However, the sushi selection was not very diverse, especially compared to other running sushi restaurants I have been too. You can order stuff from the menu that's also included in the price, but many of the rolls seemed to taste the same, made with the same salmon salad. I kept hoping to see some diversity on the runner, but was disappointed. In addition, in contrast to the one very friendly chef, who was very quick and attentive, the waitresses were slightly inattentive (one forgot our drink). The ingredient seems relatively fresh, but my biggest gripe was that the rice tasted very sweet in all the rolls. This left a strange aftertaste. There were very few non-sushi items, just a few dumplings, edamame, kelp salad. I think most sushi restaurants usually offer a wider selection of fried or non-sushi items. In addition, there was absolutely no dessert. There was a bowl of small hard candies that would circle around, but I was looking for either fruit, sweet sesame balls, fried bananas, or anything as a possible dessert option, which I'm accustomed to seeing at the majority of running sushi places. If you're in the area, I think this sushi restaurant would suffice, and it does have a few good items on the menu. But as it's the same price as other running sushi restaurants, I would recommend trying out the other places that Cologne has to offer, such as Sakura in Köln-Sülz, which have more and much better options. The dinner bill ended up to €60, including drinks and tip, for two people. This would be considered atrocious in America for the subpar quality that we received, but I guess it's pretty standard price here in Germany. And I actually don't mind paying that much for good sushi here, but I just felt very unsatisfied afterwards, so I wouldn't say it's necessarily worth it.

Not good. I always think sushi on a conveyor belt sounds amazing. I'm always wrong. Not freshread more
