I can't say enough good things about Ani. When you first meet her you feel like you are with an old friend. She has a vibe about her that gives you a sense of peace and calm. You can tell that she is in her element as soon as she starts talking. She spends the time to find out exactly what your issues are and where they have come from, to both educate herself and you. Although I live in Brooklyn, NY, after my first 90 minute Ani Sevag massage, I will not go to anyone else (and I've had many massages)! Rarely will I make a trip down without scheduling a massage, but I have recently learned that she schedules sessions in the NY area from time to time, so I will surely be booking her when possible. After discussing my back pain and high stress levels with Ani, she advised me to get a type of massage that involves rubbing balled-up herbs in muslin over my body (sorry, I forget what they're called!). She really took the time to ask the right questions and listen to the answers. I have never before experienced a massage that brought me on a progressive journey in which she applied intuitive pressure and movement in response to my body, providing a truly organic experience that left me feeling as I had never before from a massage: relaxed, calm, and rejuvenated. Ani comes to Brooklyn, YAY!...although I would go to WHEREVER, as often as I could for a massage experience by Ani :) So...For my first massage in my home, I had house guests (3 people, 2 dogs) and a newly-broken wrist. My orthopedist recommended a massage, and I was lucky to have already previously booked Ani on her Brooklyn schedule, weeks before! As Ani set up and waited for me to be ready, she filled our space with confidence and tranquility. She was massaging my senior dog's hips as I entered the room, and the puppy who previously greeted her with a leap through the air over our heads, was curled up on a mat, watching. Besides the fracture, my muscles and ligaments were sore, tight and my movements were awkwardly imbalanced. I psychologically braced myself for what I thought would be inevitable discomfort (due to my injuries), but good-for-my-body treatment. Then, Ani listened patiently and carefully to my list of body issues, and began my massage. SURPRISE! Not only did I not experience any discomfort at all, but a few minutes into the 90 minutes Ani seemed to know just "where to do what". She also used different ointments on different parts of my body, such as something special for my sprained ankle, and she did something else on my stiff shoulder...still throughout the whole 90 minutes keeping a rhythm and flow with all her movements. She checked in with me about my level of comfort and even about the music. I just sank into and felt like I was floating through the experience (which was unimaginable at that time considering my broken wrist). My whole body felt like its parts could actually work together again. I also felt so much more positive mentally. I scheduled and looked forward to my second Ani massage which was just as wonderful. Ani is a truly gifted healer. Its the first time I've ever had a massage by the same person more than once and I realize this benefit as well as Ani has a great memory for what she learns about an individual body & I am lucky to have found her to help my healing process. Ani is the best! She is intuitive with her touch and very skilled at creating a sacred, relaxing space. I've been experiencing lots of pain in my hands and she did some Gua Sha that really opened up the muscles in my palms and wrists.
