Two years ago, I developed hemifacial spasms. The twitching was so debilitating, I was unable to read for more than a few minutes before the spasming was out of control. I was miserable and didn't know what else to do. My doctor ordered an MRI which resulted in a referral to a neurologist and a neurosurgeon who discussed brain surgery -- it was that serious. I opted instead to take medication to try to control the spasms and was subjected to some pretty strong drugs. Some of these drugs resulted in night terrors, tremors and disorientation.
