Prices average between $6-8 for most CD's and a bit more for records. A solid selection of music overall. My musical taste is eclectic to there is plenty to choose from, though like many places, you got to get there before others get some top albums. It's fun going through the different sections like when I was younger though to find some classics and things I haven't seen before.

The singer died in 1964, so these seem to be rare albums to get as he was not a big name. He looked through some stacks and the rest of us looked also. I ran into several albums I used to have, but had moved on from them, when our turntable broke in the early 90s when CDs became the standard. We never bothered to replace the turntable. Now most of what I play is through digital sources, not in my house. The store was clean and well organized and the pricing variable. It was busy with staff available. But none of us found what our friend was looking for, so we then moved on to other options. I did look online later and found a source available by internet purchase but at a price I do not think our friend would pay. I think he will find it difficult to make this random purchase in person.

They have a large selection of puzzles as well as Melissa and Doug items, I was able to get a few items for my daughter for when she gets older at a great price. I also was able to find a bag of loose Formosa oolong tea which I had been looking for for a long time and can generally only find in teabags. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We did not purchase any candy but we did check out the selection and they had a nice selection with good variety. This is definitely a stop for every Lexington vacation.

When we REALLY feel like splurging, one of our favorites in the old school toys section is the potato gun. It's about $3 (make sure to buy a couple - it's way more fun that way), that "bullets" are made from pressing the toy into a potato. HOURS OF ENJOYMENT. I have tried a lot of their seasonings and grilling sauces, and they have yet to disappoint. They also have lots of cute kitchen accessories. Upstairs is a baby gift area, but is especially known for the Christmas ornaments and accessories. Their wide assortment make great hostess gifts at holiday time! It's definitely a "step back in time", but I will ALWAYS make time for the Lexington General Store.
