Angelas taxi services based in Oxford is by far the worst service I have ever received from a company.
I would definitely not recommend them.
When I originally made the booking over the phone on 23rd April 2014, Angela was incredibly bad tempered and snappy on the phone. However, I gave her the benefit of the doubt, assumed she was having a bad day and immediately emailed her the details of the booking including the price we had discussed.
We were booking a bus for 28th June for 25 people taking us from a large house outside of Oxford and returning at 2am. She quoted us £200 for the return journey.
Angela replied confirming the price and the booking and gave me the drivers name and number. I asked if I needed to pay now and she told me I could pay the driver the cash on the night.
On Thursday 26th June I called up Angela to confirm the booking. She was incredibly snappy and barked at me down the phone - as if I was asking something incredibly unreasonable - and told me 'of course your booking is confirmed' and slammed the phone down on me. I was pretty angry that she was so rude but I was incredibly polite to her in response.
On the night, the driver was supposed to arrive at 9.30pm. By 9.45pm he has still not arrived. I called him and he did not have any of my details and was just about to pick up another group. He suggested I called the main office.
I called the office and spoke to Angela. She again snapped down the phone at me and told me that she would sort it out. I asked if she would be able to provide a replacement bus and she repeated that she would 'sort it out' and said that she would send someone soon. I explained that we needed to be somewhere (we had a booking at a club for my friends hen do and we needed to be in before a certain time in order to not have to repay for entry) and asked if I could have a more specific time. She snapped down that phone that she said she would send someone soon - probably within 15 minutes - and she hung up on me.
The bus arrived after 20 minutes. I had the cash to pay the driver but was locking up the house. The driver wouldn't let anyone even get on the bus before I handed over the cash.
I went to speak to him and he explained that he wasn't from Angela's Taxi's and he didn't know who would be picking us up from Oxford. I said I would give him half the money - so £100 - for the outward journey and then pay the remaining £100 to whoever picked us up. He said that was fine.
Then Angela called him and he said that she wouldn't send anyone to pick us up unless I paid a deposit. I asked to speak to Angela.
Angela (again!) barked down the phone at me and said that she wasn't willing to help or send a bus to pick us up unless I paid a deposit - either to her or to the new driver. I explained (incredibly polity and incredibly calmly - which is impressive given how furious I was by this point!) that the bus we were in was not her company, it was 45 minutes late, and I had specifically asked if I could pay a deposit back in April and she said no. She literally shouted at me down the phone and told me that if I didn't pay then she wouldn't help. I (again, calmly) explained that I had handed over £100 with no question to the driver and had the rest of the money with me but was not willing to pay a deposit on the night given how late the booking was and how I had offered to pay before. She again shouted down the phone at me about wanting a deposit and then hung up on me.
The driver said that Angela was always a bit stroppy but that he could take the deposit. I asked how that would work as he had said that he worked in a separate company to Angela and was just 'doing her a favour.' I asked if he could give us a receipt and he said 'he could write it on a bit of paper.'
Based on this incredibly poor customer service we booked 3 cabs to pick us up and drive us home.
I have never been spoken to so badly by someone in customer service before. I was completely shocked and horrified that someone can be that rude so consistently.
I am not the kind of person who usually bothers to write reviews but this was so incredibly bad that I really felt the need to share this with people.
