Lauer Real Estate Group - A petty response from the business itself "has plenty of them"

Lauer Real Estate Group

The staff at Lauer Real Estate got me locked out of my apartment twice--the first day of my lease,…read morewhen I called a locksmith they never reimbursed me for (I had to take it out of last month's rent), then when the keypad for the building died (stranding my cat without food for multiple days). Today, when I tried to track down my missing deposit (classic for them to never pay tenants back and delete maintenence requests without service), they responded by calling me a curse word. Not hyperbole: these people run a bizarrely rude, health hazardous, and potentially fraudulent business at the expense of their tenants. If you don't want constant disputes with your landlord about failing to meet their legal obligations, sprinkled with invective as seen below, I encourage you never to rent one of their properties.

I rented from Lauer for 3 years, so this review is of their property management, not their real…read moreestate business. The bad: 1. Lease renewals. Every November I would get an email telling me I had 2 weeks to renew my lease or they would start showing the property to prospective tenants. My lease started in August, so I was surprised that renewal was required 3 months in. And this is not an empty threat: one year I did not renew in November and sure enough they started walking people through my place. 2. Maintenance. Almost all maintenance no matter how specialized is handled by general contractors. For instance, a raccoon family moved into the attic. A contractor came by and boarded up the hole they got in through, trapping them inside. When I pointed this out, he came back and chased the mother out and boarded up the hole again. Now the mother was trapped outside and her babies were trapped inside. This whole scenario played out again the next year. The good: 1. Hailee is great. She responded to emails and maintenance requests quickly and was always professional. 2. They use an app for maintenance requests and rent payments, which makes life easier. Lease renewals are handled via docusign, so no need to go to their office. 3. My rent was very reasonable even as most other property managers were jacking up rents post-pandemic. 4. Lauer left me alone. There were no regular inspections or anything like that. Also there were never any hidden fees. In sum: Would I rent from Lauer again? Yes. Would I be excited about it? No.

A truck pulled into our private HOA and turned in order to park on the grass in front of my home. I walked over to the truck and two men were in the truck the driver on his phone. I stood there until he finally rolled down his window. I stated, the grass is not a parking area, this is a private road and he needed to move his truck. He rolled up his window and finally moved his truck into the middle of the road. I walked back over to his truck and stood there. When he finally once again rolled down his window, the exchange started again. He said he was busy doing business. Never, stating who or if he was doing business for anyone on our road in our HOA. So, I asked him to leave our area and he could conduct his business on County roads. He was rude and of course said things that some men say when they're unhappy with a female. I phoned his employer, and was told he would be surveying across the street from my home. I shared what had happened and asked, "Why didn't he identify that information and park over at my neighbor's home?" I was assured it would be taken care of and they would get the work completed, move the truck and, be gone. I continued my work on my property until the driver of the truck kept saying ugly thing so I could hear him. Which resulted in yet another verbal exchange. So, I made yet another phone call and this time Mr. Allan answered the phone. I shared with him the exchange and he started calling me aggressive towards his workmen. I continued to call Mr. Allan Sir, reminded him this is an HOA, his workmen need to get their work done and do so without harassing me. By the way Mr. Allan I'm an owner in this HOA, I'm 5'7" and weigh 135lbs. I'm not in a vehicle , I'm not on someone's else's property and, your employee that's worked for you for 35 years should know better as should you. Aggressive? Really? How about two men in a shabby looking unkept pickup up against one Girl? Sir, you and your men of your employ owe me an apology. Finally, all you men out there that have wives or all you Ladies out there that are owners of your own homes. Just know, this, Gentlemen ways must be on forever vacation with this group. Make sure Ladies to remember the good ole boys will stick together and put it all on you even when they are wrong. Have a wonderful day and bless your heart.
