You can tell he's a man who loves his trade. He brought my boots from the dead for 18 pounds. I would have paid him double that as they were expensive boots. The result was as-new boots. Len is a craftsman, after 60 years in the trade, he ought to be. You can trust your shoes to him and he will repair them perfectly. Heels cost about £6 - all depending. The first time you discover him, you will end up rummaging through those shoes, hunting out those old favourites and letting him breathe new life into them.

Gasniers hasn't changed much over the years, they've been in Shirley for years although only changed location when the new Sainsburys was built. The staff are not particularly friendly or welcoming. We popped in at Christmas to buy a shopping trolley and didn't receive much assistance at all. One lady can be blunt to the point of rudeness. They are usually fast to serve however and I've never really found a fault with their shoe repairs.

Now I didn't ask for rubber heel and would have refused one,so when I asked for new heel on expensive leather shoes,I presumed that any competent cobbler would replace them with leather heels. They then charged me £17.00 and saked for payment before I was shown shoes!.when I said with complete surprise they are rubber? The staff said well you didn't ask for leather!!!! Why would I have too ?. And on top of it the job was a complete mess!! Scratches all over the soul where the machine had scrapped the leather and gaps between the new heel and the shoe. This would let in the rain and rot the shoe from the inside . So I had to take shoe to another cobblers in durrington to be repaired ,they took photos and where completely amazed that such a mess could be made .. So DO NOT USE TIMPSONS if you have a good pair of shoes ...avoid at all cost ...hope they make better keys Would rather Not give them a star rating .....
