Lots of fun to sit and pose with. Really made the time fly by with his funny anecdotes and drew a great funny picture.

Feral Femme Art

Feral Femme Art

(1 review)

Central Business District

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and liking art is always subjective. However, if you don't…read morelike a least one of the shadow boxes crafted by Rachaela DiRosaria, the creative force being Feral Femme Art, you probably don't have a creative soul. Many FFA works are in shadowboxes of reclaimed wood, often with birch wood cut-outs and hand-painted in acrylic. I would describe the content as part circus side-show, part Great Depression-era American advertising. Or, as DiRosaria puts it, "Welcome to the Freakshow." Just to give you an idea, amongst her creations you'll find: A girl with fire hair ("Ashes to Ashes"); a girl with fire in her belly ("Combustion"), a girl with nothing in her belly ("Hollow Girl"); the perfectly named "Tattooed Man," a Two-Ton Woman Dog-Boy ("Anomalous"); a torso-less woman biting on a dagger ("Revenge of the Handwalker"); a woman boxing a chicken ("Skirmish"); a repurposed, old-fashioned corded "trim-line" phone with a WWII Bible ("Dial-a-God"); an "Block-Head" man full of nails ("Why?"); and a Corn Dog with cheese on top, looking very much like a yellow-orange Trump combover saying F*** You ("America"). Also check out her "Peek-a-Boo" series, shadowboxes with hinged doors and keyholes. Along with the aforementioned "Ashes to Ashes," "Combustion," and "Anomalous" being part of the collection, there's a woman with a dagger through her skull ("It's Fine"), the "Lobster Girl" series, and the currently sold-out lizard girl at the "Southern Swamp State Fair." I also liked the ones categorized by Rachaela as Minis: A slithering snake, a tooth, "Welcome to the Freakshow," "Authentic VooDoo Supplies," a heart, the devil, etc. If you don't see her in the Big Easy, and don't want to just see her wares online, I recommend at catching her at an art festival near you. Along with her web site, you can see her latest works (and latest festival appearances) on her Instagram (https://bit.ly/2M3aMWQ). Great stuff! I hope you like it as much as I did!
