Bought our third piece from Peter Lik in Lahaina this week!…read more Fell in love with it, after seeing it online (this gorgeous composite [aka double exposure] caused quite a remarkable stir in the art world) and it ended up that we had to have it. We were excited about putting it in our new wine bar/tap room in Sonoma. We found our wonderful friend Philip and he facilitated the sale and offered us great ideas about the piece. Justin and Jesse, who also work for Lik, were just as excited for us and the three of them spent time really making the experience even more of a MUST-have-it experience. We cannot wait to unveil it at our soft-opening!

Peter Lick is an awesome photographer. I was introduced to his work by no other than Adam. I know…read moreI've never given this gallery a thought in my previous travels to Maui. I have a tinge of regret about not knowing his work earlier. His most expensive work the Phantom fetched 6.5 million. I've seen a version of it at this gallery but I bet the original is probably going to render me speechless for hours. The subject is the Antelope Canyon in AZ. A slot canyon carved out by natural flowing water over the course of millions of years. Although Adam and I fell in love with one of his work called the Scarlet Moods. It made sense to me when I first saw it. It beckoned for me to come closer. It's one of his newer work. It's a striking contrast between the whiteness of the aspen trees and the surrounding snow against the fiery red/orange leaves. PEACEFUL and yet seductive. I wish I can share a picture of his work but no photographs allowed. You can view his work here: lik.com

We went here as we wanted to go to the Peter Lik gallery a few doors down and saw this on the way…read more We're familiar with Peter Lik's work and are a fan of his and wanted to see if he had anything new we might like. Like I said, walking there, we came across Maui on Metal first and decided to stop in. The beautiful pictures Maui on Metal had drew us in. Metal on Maui prints beautiful pictures on metal. They look great that way, and I have to imagine it makes them more durable. Once inside, we saw they had lots of beautiful pictures of similar quality to Peter Lik's but at a fraction of the price. Honestly, we found a picture of his that we liked. But in the size we would have needed it, it would have cost over $6,000 - and at PL's, the price only goes up. We couldn't justify spending that much on a picture, no matter how beautiful. However, at MM, we found one we liked a lot. I had seen it the previous day elsewhere on the island, and when I looked at the picture on my phone I took of it for comparison, the woman at MM was interested to learn this other store had something similar. MM said they would match that store's price, give us free shipping and give us our choice of 10% off or a free 16x24 picture. We ended up with a beautiful 20x60 panoramic picture and the smaller 16x24 picture for $1300, shipping included. They also said we could have it tax free, but when we said we lived in Hawaii, she said that wasn't possible for legal reasons, but we would have saved an extra $50 had we lived anywhere other than Hawaii. We're happy with our picture and will have it delivered 3-4 weeks after placing our order. We look forward to seeing these pictures on our walls for years to come. As for Peter Lik's, we never made it there. Even though I doubt we would have bought anything there, I always liked just seeing the pictures there. But after coming to Metal on Maui, there just didn't seem to be much point to going to Peter Lik's.

We were on Front Street waiting for our group to arrive for food and drink…read more So we dropped in here for possible art for our bedroom. The lady Patricia kept trying to close a sale. Take it home, make a decision, What do you like about it. This would be perfect, etc. We did like some pictures but She was more used car sales than an art gallery type. So , outta dere

My husband Paul and I first discovered the Village Gallery in Lahaina in 1994. We were delighted…read moreto see beautiful, original art by local artists. Over the years we have purchased paintings, glass sculptures and jewelry from Lynn at the gallery. In May of 2023 I visited the gallery with my friend Renee, who lives in Lahaina, and she admired the work of Tracy Dudley. In August of 2023 we were devastated to hear of the fire in Lahaina, and we knew that the gallery was lost along with all of the art. Fast forward to 2026 and Renee is getting married to James and I reached out to Tracey and Lynn to see if there was any art by Tracy that I could give them as a wedding gift. Sure enough there was, and I was so excited to give them two beautiful, framed prints with Tracy's and Lynn's help. As a fun note, when James saw the prints he commented, " hey isn't this the artist whose postcard has been on the refrigerator for years?" Indeed. If you want to see beautiful original art by local artists look no further than the Village Gallery, Maui 1191 HONOAPIILANI HWY, Unit 100, Lahaina near Cannery Mall, next to Bank of Hawaii

I was surprised at how many art galleries were on Front Street. I had not been impressed by…read moreanything, until I saw the Murakami's here. We ended up taking a long time to look at the Warhol's, Dali's, Erte's, and especially the Murakami's. We spoke to people who worked there, who are obviously passionate about what they do, and they provided a lot of information about the artists and their careers. My friend's husband walked in with no shoes and no one cared. Clearly we were not in San Francisco. I was almost convinced to buy a piece, my friend even more so, but we refrained. For now.

My partner decided that maybe we should go check it out, and so we drove to Lahaina on a Saturday afternoon with this as our main objective.. i'm really not familiar with this artist even though I do like Pop art and Japanese culture, but the show was impressive. Steve, the gallery manager was very kind to explain the work it's potential value, and some of the other artwork that was in the Gallery. Overall, I thought he was a very pleasant and very knowledgeable, and I would definitely consider going back to the gallery or sending people over there. We're interested in buying fine art work. We just may have hit this place on the right day but I would say it was a good visit with the value building type of sales presentation
