I am forevermore thankful to Dr.Andrew Kim for his professionalism,
mercifulness, astuteness and his praiseworthy golden-touch precision which
spare lives from surgical complications.
A miracle! While on the lookout for oral surgeons online, he seemed a
righteous choice -I realized that coincidentally he was part of my dentist team
(at Rockefeller) when my dentist Lim courteously referred him to me.
Dr.Kim's homey office is located on Madison in "The Fuller Building" skyscraper
designed with Jazz-Age,Art Deco.
We had a private consultation regarding the wisdom tooth extraction that
created favorable expectations. My impacted molar #32 was horizontally
encased underneath the gum tissue with partial crown surfaced (partial bony impaction)
-apparently risky but his sagacity, explications were of consolation. He possesses a
vivacious,good-natured,communicative,sunshine personality,a generous big soul in
expertism. Unconditionally, he gives prudent advice due to that several options were a
courtesy of his gratuitous thoughtfulness.
As I departed the office, Dr.Andrew Kim accomodatingly led me through the corridors
and politely held the door open.
Costs could vary due to the type, quantity of anesthesia used, difficulty of the extraction,
root curvature,impaction,angle,full or partial eruption,courtesy rebates,insurance,
address and experience of the surgeon. My operation took place on November 10th,2015.
We spoke in another office about final questions, I knew that the tooth was to be
partitioned and my suggestion was to cut it in perhaps seven pieces.
Dr.Kim administered various injections (local anesthesia,Novacaine) -a bit were felt.
He promised that I would feel no pain when being operated.
Dr.Kim began the surgery with an optimistic motivation, he firstly drilled and
partitioned the crown. I liked to observe, hear his explanations, and see the
handling of the varied instruments.
I could move freely while seated. Dr.Kim only firmly held my chin once and he
considerately excused himself of using applied pressure. The swaying motion
of the elevator tool was not at all rude but minimal.
I was placidly jubilant throughout the less than twenty minutes surgery because I
relied in his cautious confidence. Conclusively, the forceps could not enter the
hole and he patiently replied:"...have to open..up more" and in seconds he did
an incision. The large portion was grabbed by his forceps and he revealed the
chunk and told his assistant "this is for her" and the piece was placed in my
souvenir bag as I requested.
For the stitching of the dissolvable sutures, he walked at a distance and extended
the sutures as if it was a ribbon cutting ceremony. The scissors were dangling
properly from my mouth and as he cut and sewed it into position he humorously
stated "..don't want to stitch your tongue that would be uncomfortable" I chuckled
at loud at such humor and at the miraculous finalization of a perfect surgery.
He placed the gauze asking if there was no pain -I confirmed there was absolutely
none! (no unnecessary pulls nor bruising). As he exited the room he smiled saying
that it might have indeed been cut into seven sections after all.
Things went smoothly, I could talk and came home late at night on the same day
after enjoying a trip of the panoramic city.
I did not take painkillers nor medication because Dr.Kim's technique was
faultless -he gently and tightly stitched the sutures in position.
A few hours the anesthesia wore off and the tongue could move -thus less drool.
I changed the gauze every forty minutes and there was minimal blood loss.
I ate dissolvable food in just hours after surgery. At night I used the last gauze
since no bleeding was evident.
Nonetheless, for two weeks there was slight swelling, injection soreness, muscle fatigue,
(the utilization of an ice/hot bag helped).
The second day I ate mashed potatoes, on the third fried rice with chicken
-ice cream and crushed ice cubes relieved the site.
Days later, I was back at Dr.Kim's office and he was pleasantly surprised that
the healing took as unexpected fast. He said "it was like nothing had happened"
and that the tissue was rapidly growing (this was due to his masterful healing
tactics). Afterwards, he compassionately told me to continue salt rinsing,
resting and to not hesitate to return if I feel any affliction.
Within a month I reappeared for deeper analysis.
Even though the panoramic x-ray showed progress, the recuperation can last months
for symptoms to desist. It depends on the person, their rest, nutrition, routines, etc.
Dr.Kim returned my call on the telephone -he was a solace when it comes to medical
matters. On the Summer of 2016 he did a limited focus exam and he offered useful
advice on the little jaw tension I was having.
Dr.Kim mitigated my concerns -I justly can say he is more than highly recommendable
for saving lives and I truly honor his meritorious service.
I also thank his staff for their contributive actions!!! read more
