Highly recommend if you want a health partner and not just a quick fix. Dr Jurow takes his practice and patients seriously so if you want to chit chat and complain he's not your guy but if you are after solutions and real help he's extremely knowledgeable, comes highly recommended by his colleagues and is highly professional. Dr. Jurow was recommended to me by one of his family friends, so I trusted the recommendation. My experience with him from day 1 with my first pregnancy was a big big dissappointment. Our appointment was very brief and hasty (and i definitely felt like a number to him). I felt very rushed in each appointment. The day I found out about my miscarriage, he recommended a same-day surgery, which was fine by me, but his staff didn't even explain to me the process and gave me 3 pills to take 20 minutes prior to the procedure without even telling me what they were! This is extremely poor service and I will never return to Dr. Jurow. read more

I definitely think that Dr Jarrow and his staff should have five stars. He is very caring doctor! I recently emailed him about an issue I had and he got back to me that day! I also had a procedure that I was worried about and he told me to email him while he was on vacation and he would get right back to me so that I wouldn't worry and he did. He is a busy doctor but finds time for his patients. I read a couple reviews that said that he was arrogant... I think they're confusing this with with his confidence in what he does. I think he has an excellent staff , being a business owner I know it's hard to find people that are all caring and helpful but he's done a great job. Avoid like the plague, no pun intended. I went to him for an OBGYN return visit on a Friday and it was clear he was in weekend mode already. He rushed through my visit in 5 minutes and was super dismissive with all of my questions. He told me the next visit would be when I would come in to do a test for gestational diabetes. It was only when I talked to my coworker the next week that I found out she had to fast for her gestational diabetes test, so I thought maybe there was something I missed when talking to Dr. Jurow. Turns out he omitted a lot of information - if the test would be in the office or the lab, whether I should fast, how long I should expect the appointment to be or if there is paperwork I needed to take the the lab. I later found out that I should expect to be there for almost 2 hours, which would have been nice to know in advance since I was taking time out of my WORK DAY to go to a doctor appointment that I had assumed might be a 30 minute visit (or 5 minutes like the one he and I last had). I wanted to give the only male doctor at Mills Peninsula OBGYN a chance, but my experience with him and the rest of the reviews here don't lie and I won't be going back. read more

I have to say seeing Dr, Jurrow is very hit or miss. My first visit with him (during my pregnancy) was great he was in a great mood, smiling & the visit was not rushed. Quite different for our next & last visit, no eye contact, very cold & rushed. I changed to another Doc in the same practice & was very happy with her. Doctor Jurow recently delivered my first child. My husband and I went to him regularly throughout my pregnancy and were impressed by his experience, logic, and personable demeanor. I gave birth by way of a scheduled caesarean section because the baby was breech. I had hoped to give birth vaginally and felt disappointed. Doctor Jurow put my mind at ease by explaining the procedure thoroughly and answering all of our questions. The birth of my sweet breech baby was a beautiful and positive experience. Doctor Jurow stayed till the end of the procedure and helped move me from the operating table to my hospital bed. He gave me well wishes for a quick recovery before he left the room. When my husband and I went back for my 2 week check-up, Doctor Jurow thanked us for letting him take care of me! My incision has healed beautifully. I plan on having Doctor Jurow as my primary OBGYN and will be thrilled if he can deliver my future children. I asked my husband what he would say about our experience with Doctor Jurow: "I think he did a good job of explaining options and most importantly he was really great when it mattered in the OR." read more

Interesting, my earlier review of this doc disappeared from Yelp. I will repost: Do not use this doc! I found him to be rude, flippant, and lived up to every reason why I never use male gynecologists! I use another doc in the practice Jurow is in (Lisa Dyer). During a routine ultrasound I was told to go back to the gyn office for "more information". They would not tell me what was wrong, I was handed a sealed envelope to give to the doc. Yeah right! I opened the envelope that reported fetal death. Very upset, I went to Peninsula Women's Health and found Jurow to be the only doc available. I was sent to his office, he barely greeted me, he read the report and looked up and just said "Bummer". While still dealing with what was happening to me, and processing things (did a doctor just say "bummer to me"?), he said "you want to do this now?" Do what now? Explain what is going on here, jerk! I had to get myself together and ask him the questions that he should have gently explained to me without me having to probe for. (what happened, how did it happen, what are your recommendations, what happens now?, etc.) Apparently he wanted to know if I wanted to walk across the street for a D&C or "wait for later". I just walked out to the front office and asked for the first appointment with Dr Dyer when she was back. When I saw her, she was compassionate, explained everything to me, and presented my options and discussed (key word, I was not told, I was involved in a conversation) a going forward plan. THAT is what a real doctor does. Jurow is just a haircut in scrubs. Seriously, would you go to a doctor that tells a mother she just experienced fetal death "bummer"!?! Avoid. read more

This doctor is awful and this office is awful!! You are just a number to these people and not a person. I usually see doctor lisa dyer who is ok but good luck with making an appointment to see her. I recently had to see doc dyer and of course she didn't have any appointments so i ended up seeing doc jurow. Omg, worse doctor I have ever experience in my life!! No personality. He is not tactful at all. You are basically a pay check to him. Please do not go and see him. This office awful too. Way too many people. They tell you they will call you but never will unless you leave them a lot of messages or tell them you are dying. very unprofessional office. I am in the search for a new doctor right now. I would not recommend Dr. Jurow to anyone. Me and a friend both went to see Dr. Jurow, (separately), and I paid a $375.00 consultation fee. He then ordered approx. $500.00 in blood work. I then went back to go over the results and spent approx. $325.00 for another consultation. Not to mention hundreds and hundreds of dollars I spent on supplements. I called a few times during the following few weeks with no call backs. I was told by his receptionist that she personally handed him the messages. When I finally did talk to him he stated he was out of town. I doubt he was ever really out of town. I then went to pick up my prescription and noticed that my prescription was for something I am allergic to. I clearly told Dr. Jurow I was allergic and it turns out that he did not order the prescription but his receptionist did. I had the pharmacy call him and he ordered the correct prescription. About a month later I received a bill for a monthly maintenance fee of approx $200.00 (ouch $2400.00 a year). What the hell? I was never told of any such maintenance fees. I was told the fees were if I needed to contact him via phone or email, so basically to have access to him (not that he returned his calls anyway). Shouldn't I have access to my Doctor without paying an access fee, especially without ever being told beforehand, before spending the $1,200.00. It turns out the office also sent my friend the same letter. She was also never told of the maintenance fee. I called his office and I was told that this is their policy and if I wanted to be a patient of his I would have to pay the fee. I should have been told this up front so I could have made an informed decision as to whether I could afford this treatment or not. She acknowledged I was never told of the fee and stated it was a paper mix-up and apologized but said this was the way it was. It is my belief that they get you feeling a little better and hold that over your head, like a dangling carrot, and then slip in these outrageous fees. Since I have already invested $1,200.00 dollars I would probably pay the monthly maintenance fee. They figured wrong! read more

He has been my doctor since 2003, I had 2 healthy babies under his care and both my husband and I always felt comfortable with him. Dr. Jurow came highly recommended to me by several people that travelled from out of state to be treated by him. I had been under acute stress for several years and was experiencing chronic fatigue, hot flashes, night sweats, PMS, thyroid issues, adrenal fatigue and a host of other peri-menopause symptoms. I spent five frustrating years taking the traditional route with my local OB-GYN, internist and various other specialists all to no avail. Dr. Jurow spent a lot of time getting to know me (over an hour and a half in the first visit) and was thorough in taking a complete medical history and ran an extensive panel of tests. It took several visits to get the results back and the hormone and vitamin treatments started, but it was well worth the wait. He uncovered many imbalances and within several months of starting his recommended treatment protocol I experienced a tremendous rejuvenation in my overall health both physically and mentally. Many of my symptoms are markedly better and I am now free of night sweats after 4 very long years. Anytime I had an issue, which were numerous at the start he would email me or call me back that day to offer an appointment or suggestion. His nurse assistant Laurie is the best; responsive and follows up promptly. Most importantly he continues to work closely with me, making adjustments as necessary. I have always appreciated his straightforward approach. He is clear thinking and direct, genuinely listens, has great instincts and answers questions thoughtfully. He is the best out there in the field of regenerative medicine and he practices what he preaches. He is the picture of vitality and health. Dr. Jurow is passionate about getting to the root cause of prevailing symptoms and is all about prevention. He knows his stuff and is the real deal! Dr. Jurow is also an excellent OB-GYN. He is consistently professional, personable, and knowledgeable. He makes an intimate exam as painless, quick, and comfortable as possible and keeps up to date on everything related to women's health. I find him to be extremely conscientious about being thorough and carefully explaining test results, medications, procedures, etc. I am very surprised to see some negative reviews for Dr. Jurow as in my opinion he is certainly the best doctor I have encountered. In fact my entire family is now under his care. It takes time and patience to build a lasting relationship with your doctor and seeing him has been the best decision I have ever made. I don't really understand the negative reviews Dr. Jurow has received. I've been with the practice for over 10 years and he is one of the doctors that I've seen regularly. In fact, I saw him exclusively during my last pregnancy. I've found him informative, good natured and very easy to talk to. And while regular visits are always quick and to the point- I feel that if I had any major concerns or questions, he'd accommodate me. This review is not only based on my "normal" pregnancy visits but also based on when I needed to have a D&C done on a m/c. During that procedure I found him to be very direct regarding my concerns and questions yet empathetic- which is why I'd recommend Dr. Jurow. read more

I, too, was surprised to see some negative reviews for Dr. Jurow. He may not be everyone's cup of tea, but he does what he does exceptionally well! I have been searching for years since I moved to the Peninsula from Marin to find a physician with a proactive, preventive bent, and all I can say is Dr. Jurow is a major find! Instead of taking a superficial, let's-just-treat-the-symptoms approach, Dr. Jurow takes the time and effort to dig and get to the heart and cause of the presenting symptoms. He even uncovered a rather serious thyroid issue I have that no one was paying attention to. Dr. Jurow does his due diligence in a big way and is super passionate about restoring health. I haven't felt this great in years, thanks to Dr. Jurow! And he takes a holistic approach with the treatments as well! What an asset to the practice he is! One in a million! After my visit with Dr. Jurow, I'm still searching for an OBGYN who will really spend a few minutes making me feel really heard. He's very nice, and was gentle during the exam, but seemed a bit distracted and slightly condescending on both my visits. Also, a little more attention to detail from the office would be good - on my first visit, I got an Rx for prenatal vitamins, and when I went to fill the order, I found he hadn't put any of the office details on the Rx needed for my to do so, so they had to put in a message to him & I needed to find another time to get back to the pharmacy. On my other visit, I had a blood pregnancy test done, and though they said they'd call the next day with results, they never did. Fortunately, nature has a sure-fire way of telling you you're not pregnant, so I wasn't hanging by the phone. read more

I was VERY surprised to see some of the negative reviews on here. I have worked with physicians for most of my career and some can be egotistical and rush you through an office visit. This was NOT the case with Dr. Jurow at all. I NEVER feel like just another number or like I was being talked down to you. Dr. Jurow is AMAZING. He is the first doctor to make me feel at ease since having a surgery that may make it difficult for me to bear children. He is patient and takes time to answer my long lists of questions. He is open, honest, and caring. He will give you a very straight forward opinion about treatment options and try to find what YOU are comfortable with, as well as what is best for you from his perspective. The staff here are also incredible! If there is a delay on your appointment, they will explain what's going on. Sometimes the doctors get pulled away when their patients go into labor, etc. but that's what they do! The staff was great about getting me a last-minute prescription and always offer bottled water when I arrive for an appointment. I would highly recommend this doctor and his team!!!! :) read more

Dr. Jurow is insensitive, condescending, uncaring, rude...basically everything you wouldn't want in a prenatal doctor! I say this trying to be as polite & professional as I can despite the fact that he caused my wife actual physical pain at a check up & his explanation, sans apology, was that the pain she was feeling was an indicator of her low tolerance for pain! I was speechless at his blatant narcissism. The rest of the doctors in this group are excellent...unfortunately, Dr. Jurow taints their reputation. He is so horrendous that we will do whatever it takes not to allow him to deliver our baby. If only I could give less than one star for this review. read more

Dr. Jurow was recommended to me by several people. What a fantastic and caring doctor! I had a complete hysterectomy in September of 2005 and have avoided OBGYN'S ever since then. My bad I know but while my experiences with prior doctors were never particularly bad, it was always an uncomfortable experience for me on so many different levels. For many years I had gone to female OBYGN'S because I thought they were more understanding and compassionate but I was totally wrong! Dr. Jurow was very warm and comforting and in fact it was the easiest Pap Smear/Exam I have ever had in my life. He has the gentle touch!!! I found Dr. Jurow to be very professional, incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate about his profession and his patients. He was thorough in taking a complete medical history and ran a battery of tests. He is currently helping me with my major menopausal issues. Since, I had breast cancer in 2000,I never took hormone therapy and as such my quality of life has been greatly diminished ever since my hysterectomy to the point that it is hard to function most of the time. Dr. Jurow through his various blood and urine tests (tests that other doctors do not run) found defienciacies in key elements such as vitamin D, high level of calcium absorption, my hormone levels etc. and continues to work closely with me to try to get answers and solutions to my health problems. He takes a natural and non evasive approach to health and has me on the CORRECT combination and dosage of vitamins and I am already starting to feel better and have more energy. Prior to seeing Dr. Jurow, I took lots of vitamins but the key to happy vitamin bliss and life is taking the correct vitamins and dosages. I thought I was vitamin savvy but obviously was not. Dr. Jurow took a lot of time educating me about vitamins, hormone replacement and overall general good health and vitality. You want a doctor like Dr. Jurow who is honest and a straight shooter and truly cares about your health not one who gives you lip service. Bottom line, Dr. Jurow is a God send and he is the key to saving my life and sanity. I like Dr Jurow. He definitely listens to your concerns and tries to come up with a helpful solution. I see him for regenerative medicine and have been for two years now. There aren't too many MD's who work with bioidentical hormones so I appreciate that he does. His CMA Laurie is wonderful. Dr. Jurow is such a wonderful doctor! He will spend as much time with you as necessary to really know what is going on. Does your doctor do that? None did for me until I met Dr. Jurow. Dr. Jurow isn't bad. He's straightforward but does seem quite rushed at times and less than thorough in his explanations. After having 4 babies (one of which was delivered by Dr. Jurow) I decided I wanted a pro-life doctor because I want my doctor to have the same regard for my baby's life as I do, I asked him what his position was and he went on to tell me that he at some point had a leadership position with the number one abortion provider in the country, Planned Parenthood, and that he very much agrees with abortion. His reasoning was that he is also a police officer, yes, a police officer (the nurse actually also informed me of this when I was in the hospital delivering my 4th baby with him) and he has seen the abuse of young children at the hands of parents that never wanted them in the first place. Terrible position to have, what if a woman decides she doesn't want the child when it's three years old? Would it be OK to kill it?? What's the difference? I did some more research and found that the entire office not only agrees with abortion but they also provide them! So during your appointment the doctor may be ensuring your baby is 100% healthy, while the appointment before may have been that same doctor ensuring that that baby was dead! read more

I am a bit surprised with the negative reviews posted, as a matter of fact they seem a bit odd to me. Dr. Jurow has had MANY patients, over 35 years worth, with dedicated patients, because he is considered the BEST. Online posting does not represent his vast and impressive history. I've been a patient of his for over 33 years and have always received exceptional medical care and service. He delivered my children (ages 32 and 29) and has guided me healthily as I age. I have seen him regularly every year for my check-ups, health issues, questions, concerns. He is PASSIONATE about health - one thing about Dr. Jurow is he is not stagnant when it comes to the latest medical research, development, and the pursuit of better healthy living...he doesn't just believe in better ways to care for us physically and emotionally, but lives it....he's not just a "doctor", but rather an advocate for his patients. He's on numerous Boards and is always striving for better medical resources so that he can provide the best care possible to his patients. He listens to his patients, and that includes if you have an issue with someone in his staff or office, then tell him. He's there for YOU, you're his priority. I can honestly say I am literally growing older with Dr. Jurow; I was a young married woman with no children when I met him, to now a woman past menopause, and he has been with me every step of the way....watching out for me, because he cares. (my mother went to him as well prior to her death, he took great care of her). He's revolutionary with his medical approaches, most importantly he will tell you the truth, he doesn't just say what you want to hear like I have found with some doctors just so they can get a good review. With Yelp and other search engines, apparently it's become all about reviews now, and I have seen how it has negatively affected our medical care. You could miss out on having the best simply because you don't know the whole story. One thing that has been consistent is Dr. Jurow's passion for providng the latest, the best, medical care options and treatments, for his patients. I joke about how he and I are aging together, the difference is he looks fantastic! (he's a specialist in several areas, including anti-aging, he's living proof of that!). He doesn't just preach the latest health benefits, he LIVES it, and that is what he tries to share with his patients. I feel confident every time I see him that I'm in excellent hands. Dr. Jurow is FANTASTIC! He has been my physician for years and there is absolutely no other physician I trust more. Over the years Dr. Jurow has diagnosed and treated what other physicians have missed. I began seeing Dr. Jurow when I became pregnant for the third time and after experiencing two difficult miscarriages. When I began having problems with this third pregnancy, I went to my OB/GYN at the time and he informed me "I'm sorry but it does not look like you will ever be able to carry a baby to term". I was devastated. Not wanting to believe this, I transferred my care to Dr. Jurow and he took the time to diagnose me has "high risk", but explained there were steps we could take to try and prevent yet another miscarriage. I now have two very healthy children and for this I thank Dr. Jurow. I have continued to see him for all my Gynecology needs and have never been disappointed. Dr. Jurow has never taken a break in his education and therefore is always on top of the latest medical advancements and cutting edge techniques, which guarantees his patients faster recoveries and more advantageous outcomes. I must say that I was shocked by any negative reviews regarding Dr. Jurow. Why I will admit that he does not always come across as "warm and fuzzy" , trust me when I say that he does care deeply for his patients, and will use all of his expertise to help his patients feel their very best!
