Last October I sustained an ankle injury after partaking in a fitness event. Originally when this…read moreoccurred, I went to urgent care and was told to use the R.I.C.E. method for a couple of weeks, a month tops. When the month passed and I still felt pain, I followed up with the podiatrist.
At this point, I was told to give it a couple of more weeks to heal, and if not, to find a physical therapist. See, I had injured this same ankle previously a few years back. Anyway, I had a mini getaway, returned, and looked for a physical therapist. I ideally wanted one close to work, and well, that's how I settled on Physical Therapy Now.
Amarilys heads the front desk and she is a total rockstar. Pleasant, organized, and always with a smile, she's your girl for anything dealing with insurance. A note to those with insurance - a lot of insurances are changing their stances with physical therapy.
I had been prescribed twelve sessions, three times a week for four weeks, and well, my sessions were divided. My first set was five sessions, my second set was seven sessions. In between these sessions, my insurance required paperwork, and given this coinciding with the holidays, it took a bit to get that sorted, but once it was, I was back at it.
Originally my physical therapist was Nathaniel mainly, although I think once Mark attended me. Both are very funny gentlemen, always cracking jokes as if to help you forget about the pain you're facing as you do some of the exercises. When I returned coming in right after the new year, my physical therapist was Ailsa.
Ailsa is a real sweetheart. She always made me feel comfortable, even though sometimes the exercises she gave me were quite literally a pain. I guess that's part of the process though. I've been through this before, and it's never easy, but once you see improvement, it makes everything worthwhile.
Physical therapy, in general, isn't fun. You struggle to regain some semblance of normalcy. Still, if you must do it, I highly recommend this place and its staff if you're in the Fort Lauderdale area. I hope to not have to use them again (as I'm pending a check-up with my podiatrist), but if I do, I won't complain. They go above and beyond expectations to make sure you get well.
