The butchers has won many awards of excellence such as The Bridgestone and The Guild awards. The master butcher, Nigel McCreery, boasts a family history of more than fifty years in the trade - and the skills certainly show in the well run establishment and the tasty produce. I noticed a bargain hamper for families which is something I have never seen before. A chicken, steak, mince, burgers, eggs and more all for just £20.00 - no wonder this place is always busy and has been going so long.

This little butcher/farm shop towards the front of the market sells everything from corn-fed chickens (producing that lovely yellow skin which crisps up very well when fried) to venison and beef. I left with half a dozen eggs the last time, slightly more pricey than Mc Carthy's egg stall across the way but they were still great. I ended up using them in a spinach and goats cheese soufflé, very tasty and I recommend it.

They have all the usual cuts plus a whole section of marinated specials which always look delicious and are pretty well priced. The guys who work there are really pleasant and always are offering advice either to do with the preparation of the meat or a predicted football score. Quality stuff. Go buy a bottle of nice wine or a bunch of flowers, whatever tickles your fancy. It's win, win, win! Orr's stock the best of the best. I would munch down on chicken olives if my life depended on it as long as they were from Orr's. Try their pork and leek sausages...I won't buy them from anywhere else! Stuck in the middle of a wide variety of old-looking shops is a fantastic little butchers, one which should (but never will) blow every supermarket and chain store out of the water. With every cut of meat you could possibly want, this place had a queue of about ten people waiting to get served. Anywhere else that would be deemed bad service and you would complain. However, a long queue in a butchers is a healthy thing because it shows that people trust it first and foremost, and don't mind paying over the odds for some great food. I would definitely recommend it, not solely because it sells some really top quality meat (especially the steaks) but because it is much better to support local produce rather than processed rubbish that gets shipped in from somewhere dark and dingy.

At the recommendation of the lovely woman working there, I got the caramelised onion hummus and smothered it all over the garlic bagel (the best thing ever). I also got the sun-dried tomato pesto, which I nearly ate in one sitting. If I lived here, I would be at this stall every week! There were some cute stalls with local vendors selling souvenirs, artwork, and jewellery. There were also quite a few stands with cookies, pastries and sweet treats. These all looked really good. On the other side of the market, there was a lot more hot food. They had everything from tacos, mac and cheese and large portions of fries with various toppings. Everything looked really good and the beef taco from Med Mex was delicious! The sauce was to die for. Definitely worth the visit and might pop back in before I leave!

I got Rib-eye steak which was quite expensive, but it's not something I will buy all the time and its quality was worth the price.
