We've believed since the start that the faculty really loved our daughter and always treated her with care. After the first few shy days and a few tears, she always entered the classroom with a smile and left with the same. Additionally, the community around the school has been lovely. Mothers and fathers alike are open and receptive to new friendships, and create a great, warm, diverse community. The teachers were all experienced and loving, and the classes are crafted in enriching fun ways. A number of things impress me that make Westminster Weekday Pre-School stand out: (1) the continuing Ed classes for staff were conducted by UVA education department, and included the latest activities & techniques to cultivate early literacy in an age-appropriate play-based environment; (2) they play outside year-round and even had dedicated outdoor ed teachers who did fun nature activities; (3) there are a number of enrichment staff - Mr B music, an OT, etc; (4) they offer Conscious Disciple classes for the parents & community which are AMAZING; I've since done a lot of reading on research-based parenting strategies, and they all underscore what is taught in conscious discipline. It's just so nice to learn it in a systematic group coaching environment as opposed to reading a book or watching a video on your own; (5) they do a lot to foster a sense of community among the families & with service to the broader community. These are extra touches that I haven't seen elsewhere. At least not at this level - there are preschools that charge 3x the price so maybe you get that there. But I think this place is excellent. It is a small daycare, I believe max 3 kids with a few infants upstairs and downstairs toddlers through pre-K. Food is provided and it is consistent with Montgomery county guidelines. The kids have reading time, circle time, and arts and craft and learning time. The facilities are very clean and there are lots of activities and toys for the children. They also have regular nap time / quiet time for the children and snacks. In particular, my daughters math skills were very high for Kindergarten. The locations are very centrally located on Falls Road and Counselman Drive, which is very easy for a lot of parents continuing on to 495. I have only nice things to say of the staff and Leilas team and anyone who joins becomes like family.

We have been so impressed with this preschool - I wish we had found it sooner! My daughter had been to two different preschools and neither seemed like an ideal fit for a different reasons. But we feel like we have found the perfect place for her. The teachers are kind and caring (and fun!), while providing a structured and safe environment for our daughter. My daughter has excelled at academic benchmarks- including forming and recognizing letters and understanding basic math. The school has impressive protocols for Covid-19 in place, keeping "bubbles" for the classrooms to minimize exposure and cleaning protocols. As parents joining during the Covid era, we actually haven't set foot in the school, but we feel so comfortable with our decision due to the accessibility of the teachers and the administrators. We have done virtual tours, participated in virtual classroom events, and have quick access to the teachers and administrator if we ever need it. It is a very welcoming school to all its families and students. We have felt the warmth of the community since our first inquiries into the program. It is a Jewish preschool and we love this element of the program - but I would encourage (and already have encouraged!) families of any faith to check out the school. You will certainly feel the same welcome we have. From a parent who has been through a few different preschool programs searching for the right place (in terms of program, location, and price), we are so glad we found the ECC and only wish we had found it sooner!
