You can see the partial kitchen through the front counter and a man was busy cooking, with a large doner kebab slowly spinning. For me, this was all promising. There were enough people coming in for take outs, mostly doner I'm guessing it's easier for people to eat when they are running around or busy. There was a young man manning the counter and he also was a server. He was polite and helpful. We really enjoyed the food! I am from Philadelphia, and we go crazy over a Lebanese restaurant, Saad's (esp in West Philly). I am going to say something that will get me attacked. This Maple Cedar exceeded Saad's! The flavour was spot on, nothing was greasy, everything tasted fresh. If I lived here I would probably eat here often.

When my wife and I found ourselves looking for a quick dinner on early on in the week when fewer restos are open, we made our way over to Maple Cedar. Having come from Ottawa, which in addition to being the national capital of the country is also the shawarma capital, it was a bit weird how few shawarma places there are in the area. The menu leans in a mostly traditional Middle Eastern direction, although they do have pizza, donairs and garlic fingers too. We went with the shawarma ($15) and falafel platters ($15) for dine-in. It was nice to see a flow of customers, despite it being a Tuesday, and our food was in front of us in good time. My shawarma platter had thick pieces of chicken on top of a bed of savoury rice. I would have liked to see a mix of white and dark meat and some crispy bits, but it still had a nice, rich flavour and was moist and tender. Of note, the garlic sauce had more of a aioli-like texture than toum normally does. It tasted fine, but this would anger Lebanese friends of mine. The falafel platter had a generous serving of eight of the crispy chickpea fritters. The platter's composition made it a sort of build-your-own wrap, with sides of tomato, shredded romaine, pickled turnip and tahini with pita. We found the tahini a bit bland, but the falafel were spot on and not at all greasy. A container of baklava ($10) that we took home was flaky, savoury and sweet, and had the most noticeable flavour of orange/rose water I've ever had in baklava. On a return visit, I went for something quick and easy to-go, the large shawarma wrap ($11). After a short wait after a few others, I had my shawarma and classily ate in my car. It had a lovely and crisp exterior from the griddle/sandwich press, plus more traditional ingredients than most shawarma places - chicken, toum, pickled turnips and the clincher - fries. No salad in these bad boys! If they had a better toum, it would be a front runner for the best shawarma wrap that I've had in the province. Maple Cedar may have a broad menu to appeal to a smaller customer base that's less familiar with Middle Eastern food than big markets, but they're still doing right by their culinary origins.

Admittedly, we have not been to Boston Pizza since pre-Covid times. We enjoyed an appetizer a…read morespinach dip with very nice wedges of flatbread... Nicely spiced. In addition, I had the chicken club, which was delicious with a side of onion rings. My mission in life is to find the best onion rings and these were very very good. My wife had the spicy pierogi pizza which she thoroughly enjoyed. The service was tentative and very pleasant. Not surprising when I say that we will be back many times. I gave five stars because I am comparing it to restaurants of this type family with a bar and a multitude of food choices

At 6:25 the first member of our party arrived and was seated! At 6:29 the rest of us arrived. We could see our first member sitting so went to join her, which was not the bar side of the restaurant! But not a huge deal. I asked our first member if she picked this table, she said no this is where they seated her. Ok no problem. For the next 22 mins we saw no wait staff. Not even walking by! But we could clearly see two waitresses over on the bar side standing around talking to each other. We didn't even get offered any water, nothing! Then the table beside us got their food, we asked one of their servers if we had any wait staff for our table, she rudely replied with "yeah he's just busy!" Ok then! 27 mins now and still no water, no one to tell us they are sorry but will be with us soon! We got up and left! We went to Jungle Jim's where we had a wonderful waitress. The food was excellent. The service was superb, and they even told us when they seated us that it might be a little wait for our food... No wait at all!! We all left happy and glad that Boston Pizza Forced us to go to Jungle Jim's! Highly recommend Jungle Jim's! As for Boston Pizza, this was our first and last experience at Boston Pizza! They don't even deserve the one star!
