He doesn't charge a trip fee and another fee for walking in the door like most other companies. If he comes out and doesn't provide service, you don't pay. He also services AC and has low prices for freon. Richard explained that boilers are special and that HVAC technicians aren't trained to work on them. In the end, he was only $95 and fixed my boiler in about an hour. When I had an HVAC technician look at my boiler, I paid a few hundred for parts that I may not have needed and that didn't fix the issues my boiler was having. After 2 months and $500 in repairs, I was left believing I needed a new boiler. The HVAC technician wasted my money and left me and my kids without heat or hot water for 2 months. Not to mention the $600 electric bill I had from running space heaters day and night in the dead of winter. I'm dreading the next one - a painful, expensive lesson. Richard left a sticker on my boiler about 2 years ago and I didn't call when it went bad this time - and I'm kicking myself now for not calling him sooner. I remembered how honest and professional (and cheap) he was from last time and gave him a call. I promised him, today, that I would always call him if my boiler is broken and I even put him in my phone contacts. He has a $225 per year service contract which includes cleaning (which should be done every year) and I'm definitely going to sign up. If you have a boiler and it needs any kind of work, PLEASE, call Richard. He is the best and you won't be disappointed! And tell your friends how great he is too!

Within minutes, he diagnosed our problem and offered to order and procure the part and be back ASAP to install it. True to his word, he returned early in the week and completely repaired the boiler, even remitting part of the estimated cost back to us because he didn't really need to use all the parts. Richard is absolutely wonderful, trustworthy, honest, hard working, and most of all knowledgeable. I would never call anyone else again to look at my heating or air conditioning problems. This is because for years, the alarm goes off for no reason - several times a year. It fell to be to contact FIRELINE this time. They would not provide a window of time for the tech to arrive. So I was at lunch at Belvedere when they called to say "We're here at the church!" They sent 2 technicians when one would suffice. I asked how much it was going to cost. They had no idea. They said: "It's a 2 hour minimum service charge." So it was, 2 hours for 2 men when they were there all of 45 minutes. That's $195 per hour per man = $780 and they threw in an $80 charge for travel! They blamed the recurring problem on the VERIZON phone connection but VERIZON says there doesn't appear to be a problem. Oh, and a week later, the alarm was going off again...

I was surprised and little concerned that it only took this two-person team 15 minutes to clean and get on the roof to check things out. I was disappointed that they didn't clean the fireplace walls completely (see photo). In the past all of the soot would be washed off. I mentioned something to Tim and he had his sidekick come back to work on it for five more minutes. Still wasn't overly satisfied for the price I paid. $180 seems steep in the DMV region but to be honest I haven't researched other groups. Tim made some recommendations for a few repairs. I'll shop around though to get another quote or two. They want $375 to replace back wall and $375 to replace cap outside. Other chimney places hit me up
