I think about food, ingredients and spices a lot and when I travel, I like to experience and take a little something home as a souvenir. So I came to John Lewis & Partners after a friend recommended the grocery portion as a good place to find spices. I've traveled to several countries and states where I pick up spices to use in my recipes, this means a lot more to me than some novelty t-shirt or magnet. I purchased a wide selection of spices, some which I have never tried using before. As you can see in my picture, I got quite the haul and paid around $30 euros for it all. Compared to the prices I would have paid back home, I feel that I got a great deal at John Lewis & Partners.

I visited the shop in march to buy a Wallbed. James was very helpful and informative even though I was 20 minutes late and he had someone else to see. Although he showed me a variety of things and possibilities, he didn't try to oversell. In the end, due to contract issues, I couldn't order my bed until october, but he was helpful and remembered who I was, so I didn't have to start from scratch. 2 lovely men came to build the bed, they were helpful, friendly and polite. They did a great job. My bed is fantastic! While I waited for it to arrive, I regretted spending so much money on it, but once I got it, all my regrets were gone. I bought the comfort bed in king size with the shelves at the back and the lamps. The lamps are actually much better than the ones in the catalogue. The first day, I lay on it for 5 minutes and woke up 12 hours later. Another plus I didn't know about, you can move the sofa if you like, so you can use both at the same time if necessary. The quality is excellent, it's very easy to use. Some people ask me if it isn't too much work to close the bed every day, but it doesn't take more time than it would to make a normal bed nicely. (it doesn't have to look perfect as you close it) I chose a firm mattress, but there are other options. I don't know about those, but my mattress is fantastic. I have never before slept more than five hours a night, and usually I would wake up in the middle, but no more!! I sleep eight hours at least a day, I was late for work the first week I had it. The sofa is very comfortable too. I love my bed so much that I will put this review everywhere! Thanks to everyone at the London Wallbed Company

Fantastic! I live in reasonably sized, but not huge two bed flat in Hove, I have a spare bedroom…read morewhich is big enough for a double bed, but not for wardrobes and desks as well, my master bedroom is a good size, but gets overwhelmed if filled with clothes, books and other paraphernalia. I needed to clear my two bedrooms of clutter, and make the spare room useable. I had a brainwave, what about a Murphy bed? I did some internet searching and came up with The London Wall Bed Company. After a brief email and telephone exchange, I went to their showroom in Acton where I met with James. We had a chat during which he skillfully, quickly and efficiently got an idea of my needs and showed me a range of products that would suit them. I left once we'd agreed on the right product which took around an hour, maybe less. Within 24 hours, I had received by email two estimates one for a fold down bed with wardrobes and one without as well as sketches based on the measurements I'd come up with. I thought I might try and reduce the cost by buying ready made wardrobes, but I decided that it would look better and be less hassle if I went for the version with wardrobes. I paid a deposit and arranged for James to come down to Brighton and take actual measurements of the room. The order went in and my wall bed was delivered and fitted about six weeks later. I now have a spare room which I can use as a dressing room, a wardrobe and an office (there's a fold down desk attached to the bed which I can use when the bed's not in use). In fact, what I do is give up my main bedroom when people come to stay and sleep in the Murphy bed myself, it's like being a kid again and means I keep all my stuff in the back bedroom and bathroom and I don't have to keep it too clean and tidy! I now have room for a sofa in my main bedroom which feels very luxurious because before it was full of clothes storage! I love service I got, I love the wardrobes, and I love the bed, I also love the fact that my flat feels bigger and less cluttered. James understood my needs, he wasn't in the slightest bit pushy and he got the job done in the agreed time frame for the agreed price. This is a perfect solution to a problem I've had for 15 years.

When I asked to cancel my order as they have totally failed to deliver, was told that there was a 30% restocking fee- £1,436 for absolutely nothing. When I asked for the complaints procedure, I was told they don't have one, as they have never had a complaint. I asked for the directors contact details, which they wouldn't give, he rang off a withheld number, and didn't call me back when requested. they say that they are a small company, but actually have 20 showrooms. I think I can confidently say Harrods is the best store on earth. The building alone is…read moreextraordinary, occupying its corner of Knightsbridge with the scale and permanence of a London landmark. Inside, floor after floor unfolds into fashion, jewelry, food, technology, and nearly anything else someone could conceivably want to buy. It is unapologetically excessive, but that ambition is exactly what makes it so much fun. What surprises me most is how pleasant Harrods can feel despite all that luxury. My wife and I once looked at diamonds here, fully aware we were surrounded by merchandise operating in another financial universe, and the staff could not have been nicer. They answered our questions, treated us seriously, and never made the interaction feel slimy or transactional. For a place this fancy, the warmth was striking. Another visit produced one of those purchases that becomes attached to a place. My wife bought a pair of Gucci loafers here, a significant purchase for us, and she ended up wearing them constantly. I still associate those shoes with London and the excitement of buying something special at Harrods rather than ordering it online. The Food Halls create the same sense of occasion, with spectacular rooms and counters worth exploring even when you are not hungry. Personally, my favorite territory is the Fifth Floor, especially the technology. On my last visit, the running selection nearby included the largest and newest collection of On shoes I had ever seen, as though Roger Federer and the Swiss president had stopped by between Wimbledon matches for a glow-up. They also had a state-of-the-art Sony television that I remember being around 80 inches and roughly £100,000, showing Gran Turismo on the newest PlayStation at the time. The image was so absurdly good it practically melted my face. Nearby sat a Samsung or LG machine the size of a wardrobe that steamed, refreshed, and cleaned clothing, the kind of absurdly futuristic appliance that felt straight out of James Bond. That is Harrods in miniature: the biggest, newest, and best versions of things you already know, plus things you did not know existed. For someone fascinated by retail, brands, and consumer behavior, the entire building is basically a history museum of capitalism still operating at full speed. Even the people-watching is incredible, with an unusually diverse international crowd making Knightsbridge feel like a crossroads of wealth, fashion, tourism, and London life. Historically, that idea runs much deeper than the current merchandise. Harrods has occupied Knightsbridge since the 19th century, and its famous pet department once sold exotic animals, including lions. Someday I would love to take a proper historical tour with someone who knows the building, the Harrod family, and the strange commercial history packed into these rooms. The merchandise changes, but Harrods seems to have spent generations asking the same question: what is the most remarkable thing in the world that someone might conceivably want to buy? Ultimately, what impresses me is how gracefully Harrods carries all this excess. Extreme luxury can easily become vulgar, plastic, and gluttonous, yet Harrods reflects something England does exceptionally well: celebrating tradition, design, and innovation at the same time. The grandeur is enormous without becoming tasteless, and during the holidays especially, the building can feel genuinely magical. If you are visiting London, go at least once, even if you have absolutely no intention of buying anything.

If you are in London you have to make a stop and even get yourself a souvenir. While visiting we decided to get lunch on the first floor. It was a little expensive but worth the experience.
