Having visited Haworth many, many times during my childhood, I decided to go and relive some good memories and have a wander around this lovely little town. After walking in and out of a few little shops on the main street, we were asked by an incredibly polite lady if we'd like to try a sample of chocolate. Of course we said yes (who would say no?!) and were then enticed into the shop. Inside we saw a beautifully decorated shop with moody lighting and soft music. Home made packages of, well, home made chocolates were set around the display tables, but it was the main counter that caught our eye. Hand made individual chocolates were labeled with interesting titles and I was drawn to the more unusual flavours. I chose four flavours which were:
1) Strawberry white chocolate and black pepper.
2) Whiskey truffle
3) Mango, chilli and lemon
4) Creme fraiche strawberry
We were served by a sharply dressed gentleman who was very professional and wrapped the chocolates up nicely in front of us. They were priced by weight and I was charged £2.11 for 4 chocolates, about 53p per chocolate which was very reasonable.
The chocolates themselves were really well made and looked fantastic. The flavours mixed well together, especially the Strawberry white chocolate and black pepper, which was sweet and sharp when first bitten, then the black pepper came through towards the end. Each of the other chocolates were well made with each individual flavour popping up as you tasted.
Overall, ... and chocolate is a fantastic little independent shop. The passion for creating hand made chocolates is obvious and the staff were so friendly and inviting. read more
