The last 200m or so is a steeper one-lane road, but not problems here if you just look ahead a bit. The parking lot by the Oyster Shed has limited spaces. Again here...just don't rush - bring some time to either wait for a spot or to park further down and walk up. We got lucky and got a spot. Two RVs parked here too. Almost couldn't get in and out and did hold everybody up - so I wouldn't recommend bringing your RV up here. Inside you order by tablet. It's quite a big space inside the shop. Once you got your food (outside) you can sit down right in front or head around the corner to the big table with some views. We were happy to sit out front though. Ordered two kinds of cooked topped oysters (salmon/seaweed and spicy seaweed chutney), crab legs, a softshell crab and half-a-dozen of regular oysters. The fresh raw oysters were nice and of good quality. The cooked oysters were decent, maybe easier for oyster-beginners since the toppings cover the sea/oyster flavour. The softshell crab was really tasty - but also a bit pricey for our served size. The best item were the crab legs cluster. A good load of legs for little money. Very tasty! All in all a good place to enjoy some seafood. Some items were great, others also very good - but not great. If we come back it would be for the Crab legs...

Service not the best (for such a top establishment). Not attentive. Even worse, no apologies when there was plastic in the dish! That is a major fail to be honest. Waiter said he'd talk to kitchen and never came back. When the bill came we had to tell this different waiter about the whole episode. Again no apology but when she came back with a revised bill she quietly took the charge off (so that dish was free). Fine but why such bad handling of this whole incident?

Emma was our server and was warm; delightful and very helpful with my gluten allergy; and Rebecca, the manager, was lovely, and helped us earlier in the day to arrange transport from Sconser. For the meal .... Well! We started with the crab, which was flavorful and very fresh. My husband saw the table next to us served the Curried Cauliflower soup, and had to try it. Super!! The entrees were exceptional; I had a lovely, thick piece of cod, with a beautiful butter and lemon sauce with grape tomatoes, and they subbed out a stacked potato dish, due to my gluten allergy, and it was delicious. My husband had the scallops with pork belly, and while both were fantastic, the pork belly was truly amazing. We also had a side of the seasonal vegetables, which were crisp and very fresh. If you are on Skye, don't miss The View!

Armed with our trusty gas stove, we searched the island before stumbling across Anchor Seafoods at the end of the pier. It was closed when we first approached it - were we to be twarted at the final turn??! No, we popped back 15 minutes later and the lovely lady had returned and we were able to peruse a fine selection of freshly caught seafood. The shop owner was quite charmed by my boyfriend, and seemed completely amazed that a Brazilian should turn up in her little shop in Portree!! The fish selection was super fresh and so appealing. It took a lot of resistance and will power not to walk away with too much, but we had to bear in mind we had no way of storing the produce. It was quite pricey but we decided it would be worth every penny. We settled for some scallops and prawns and headed off to find a secluded section of beach where we could cook up our feast and make all our fantasies come true!! Top quality seafood from a top quality place.

Good food in a place where it's not common with a spectacular view…read more I went back and forth between four and five stars here and I'm going to give it five stars in the end because they managed an upscale food experience without being overly pretentious (although the price tag remains) and had a good kid's menu. The actual food went back and forth between four stars and five stars (especially at this price point), as did the service. The drinks list was short, but well-thought-out including local whisky. We came here for a nice dinner out with our family of 4 (including two kids 8 and 11). The inside was finished with an interesting industrial chic with riveted, metal-topped tables with wrought iron supports and huge floor-to-ceiling windows looking out at Uig Bay with Uig Sands visible depending on the tide. A bit less than half the tables are actually against the window, so try to get one, but the view is good no matter what. The food is very good, but not quite top-tier tasting menu level. We got the seafood chowder, smoked salmon with cashews and toppings, pistachio crusted cod, and the scallops. The seafood chowder and scallops were both good, but didn't stand out in any spectacular way. The chowder was a bit overly salty. It also had mussels in it, which was a bit different. The scallops were well-cooked with crispy potatoes and a bit of kale, but mostly just well-done scallops. The cod coated in a crispy herb crust with pistachios and a pea risotto was truly different. The risotto tasted almost as though it had mint in it and the peas were just a tiny bit crisp and crunchy giving it texture to complement the flaky, but still moist fish. Probably the highlight of the meal. The smoked salmon with cashews and pickled vegetables and avocado cream was reminiscent of a tuna carpaccio, but with smoked salmon instead. Very different and locally inspired. Second best thing of the meal. The kid's menu was a really nice touch. The kids got a plain burger and penne pasta, which were both good. I really appreciated not having to find them something else to eat off the main menu. Dessert was similar to the rest of the meal. The pistachio cake with raspberry cream was excellent, dense and moist with different flavors. The coconut ice cream with rice "donuts" were different, but too sweet for me. The donuts were basically rice pudding deep fried and dusted with sugar, but the roasted pineapple and super-sweet syrup pushed it too sweet. The kid's got salted caramel and dark chocolate parfait (really ice cream) with a brownie. It was also excellent, but they didn't love the salted caramel. Drinks-wise they had a decent selection of local whisky as well as wines (mostly by the bottle). We enjoyed an Argentinian Malbec which was light enough to pair with the seafood.

Please book ahead and stop asking the waitress if they have a table while holding the door open - it was a cold and blustery summer evening and she didn't have time for those who can't read the sign which already said "Sorry the restaurant is full tonight!" There is just one waitress and I only saw 2 people working in the kitchen. It would take a while before she could come over to take the order and a while longer for the food to come. We both ordered the squat lobster as starters. It was similar to the crawfish tails but the meat was more tender and sweet. I ordered entree sized scallops that comes with a salad with crispy lardons and purée - they are only available as an appetizer on the menu but the waitress allowed me doubling the size as an entree. The scallops were so sweet and cooked to perfect perfection. It came with butternut squash puree (wished there was more) and crispy lardon, cubed butternut squash and capers salad - wished there were more betterment cubes and less capers as the later made it too salty). Wished I could gave them 4.5 starts! This is the quintessential Skye experience we aimed for! A small local restaurant with locally sourced seafood!
