Barely adequate considering how many people come to NOTL. Employees have a long face on entry and…read moreexit. I understand that real estate is at a premium, but this the smallest LCBO I've seen in Ontario! The other reason not to come here is that they have such limited hours! I can't believe they wouldn't be more profitable if they stayed open later than 6PM or 8PM. Pass this one up and head to Niagara Falls where they stay open much later, 10PM or 11PM.

The LCBO is the local wine, beer and liquor store in Canada. On a recent trip to…read moreNiagara-on-the-Lake, this is where our group stocked up on all our wine/beer needs. It's a bright and clean store with great organization and help is available if needed. They take US dollars (giving you CA change) too, which was incredibly convenient for me since it was a pre money conversation stop. Wine and liquor is kept in the front of the store, with a convenient chilled wine selection as well. I wandered back to the "beer cooler" to find an impressive selection and was able to pick up a variety of local cans. Most craft beers are sold individually in large 473 mL aluminum cans. You'll pay for the beer as well as a $.10CA deposit (FYI: this location does not refund the deposit fees!) I felt pretty lucky to strike up a conversation with an employee who was able to recommend some great options and was very welcoming. Whether you're looking to party in up with friends, bring a couple drinks back to your house (or hotel room) or have a picnic in the park, the LCBO is your best bet for stocking up. Do note, the hours are limited compared to US liquor store hours, staying open the latest on Thursday and Fridays, and that's only until 8pm. I highly recommend grabbing some wine here and some cheese at Cheese Secrets around the corner and heading over to Simcoe Park for a picnic.

I found this on my GPS, it didn't take me to the right place, but as I kept driving to turn around,…read moreI ran into it. There was a very nice selection of liquor and wine, but most of it was much more expensive than in the US. I did get a bottle of Baileys birthday cake that I'd never seen before. They also had several Coors selzers that aren't available here. They had a fairly small selection of beer. I'll be back when I'm in Niagara Falls again.

Even though it's not right in the Clifton Hill area it is still packed with out of towners like me and locals. We actually had to wait for a parking spot because the lot is so full. Everywhere outside the lot you have to pay for parking, hence the traffic in the lot. The liquor prices aren't bad and they will accept USD, and credit. I'm not sure about debit, what I do know is they wouldn't accept my Discover card. Normally I use Amex but they're charging international rates, so the hell with them on this trip. Today I used cash and the clerk made the exchange and provided change in CA currency. I picked out a 200 ml bottle of Crown Royal which costly about 11 USD, not best, but still cheaper than what you're going to get at any restaurant here. I'll probably pop back in here one more time before we go to the NY side. I'm sure we will need another night out on the town, and that whiskey is unbelievably good on a cold night.

Most of them are touristy (this one included), but we were intrigued by the cute merchandise in the window and their small wine bar that holds local ice wine tastings. It's difficult to find a place that will let you try a flight of wines from different vineyards and different wine producers, so I was happy that Wine Country Vintners had multi-brand flights. They only do ice wine, however. We shared a $20 tasting of 3 ice wines. All were good but it's an acquired taste because they are super sweet. It was like drinking a glass of syrup! The woman hosting us was very kind and knowledgeable and even recommended a few places to visit. With the purchase of a tasting, they extend a small discount if you purchase one of the bottles in the flight. The shop is cute too, and carries a big variety of regional wines (not only ice wine). It has all sorts of things that wine lovers will adore, from designer glasses to books to local souvenirs to cute wine accessories. I noticed several sale tags that had significant price reductions on some items. I came home with a set of wine glass drink markers that had been marked down to $2 from a retail price of $20! This is a must-stop if you're in Niagara on the Lake. It's one of the more fun shops in the area, and a great place for wine lovers to browse.

This store if freakin' fabulous!…read more First of all, it's warm and welcoming when you enter, with warm wood accents and wooden flooring and wine and appetizer trays and wine accessories abound. It really looks and feels like the wine shop in any Tony winery, Nice. The ladies who work here really know their stuff. We had lunch earlier and the restaurant served us an ice wine which we loved. We wanted to purchase this ice wine or similar. The women who work here knew exactly what we were trying to articulate about this wine, and she let us taste a few different ice wines so we can choose the one that was closest to the one we had at lunch. That on-the-spot mini-tasting really helped us SO much, getting the perfect wine. And the women also showed me some special deals with two smaller bottles so I wouldn't have to fork out huge bucks for one bottle. Nice. Then there's the sale items. OMG thier sales! SO good. I'm not talking just wine, either. I'm talking wine accessories and houselhold/entertaining accessories. When they put things on sale here, the savings are substantial. I got these plastic retro-hotel keychains which I've seen in Vancouver for $10 each. At this store they retailed for $5 but were on sale for 49 cents each. 49 cents! I got a handful of them for gifts. And there were funky, trendy bottle bags with sequins that I've seen elsewhere for $10-15 and they were on sale here for $1 each. I got a few. And there were also beautiful wooden serving trays and other entertaining items on severe markdown. Then there's the wines. SO many wines. And a very knowledgeable staff. And they have wine tasting events here, too. This is a wonderful store. I don't think you could go wrong here.
