There was a very nice selection of liquor and wine, but most of it was much more expensive than in the US. I did get a bottle of Baileys birthday cake that I'd never seen before. They also had several Coors selzers that aren't available here. They had a fairly small selection of beer. I'll be back when I'm in Niagara Falls again.

Even though it's not right in the Clifton Hill area it is still packed with out of towners like me and locals. We actually had to wait for a parking spot because the lot is so full. Everywhere outside the lot you have to pay for parking, hence the traffic in the lot. The liquor prices aren't bad and they will accept USD, and credit. I'm not sure about debit, what I do know is they wouldn't accept my Discover card. Normally I use Amex but they're charging international rates, so the hell with them on this trip. Today I used cash and the clerk made the exchange and provided change in CA currency. I picked out a 200 ml bottle of Crown Royal which costly about 11 USD, not best, but still cheaper than what you're going to get at any restaurant here. I'll probably pop back in here one more time before we go to the NY side. I'm sure we will need another night out on the town, and that whiskey is unbelievably good on a cold night.

We stuck with all the Stoney Ridge in name ones but they have Gilmour and Tragically Hip ones too. Service was phenomenal! Friendly and informative. We ended up getting a cheese plate. That can't be controlled but the placement of where they ferment the grapes was right by the outside tables and it smelled like garbage. I don't know if that can be controlled but my nose got assaulted every time I walked by. Seating by the vineyard was nice and did not smell. It was peaceful and had weirdly low benches. The grass was nice and we let our baby play with grass for the first time! We brought a little baby playmat. We sat inside when we sampled 3 ice wines because I wanted to drink in peace and avoid the bees. Their ice wines are sooo delicious!!! Our favorite was the Cab Franc (red wine). It was sweeter to me than the Golden one she recommended when I asked for the sweetest. It tasted like magical Canadian candy ;0)

They have 2 Wine Tasting options available, $25/4x1oz (includes higher-end wines), $20/4x1oz (smaller selection, but still quite a far amt). I think beer flights were $15/4x2oz. From speaking with her, I don't think the girl who helped me with my selection knew a great deal about wines. She said that she hasn't tasted all of them, but then again, there are A LOT from the both menus. I'm assuming that most of the people working here are students. The back patio is nice with the Escarpment in the horizon and vineyard in the foreground. I think you can also order apps that are cooked in the trailer outside. At 1oz each, I honestly think this isn't enough to get a good idea of the wine. It is literally 2 small sips! Other wineries that I've been to usually offer 4x2oz pours at the same price, and this amount is MUCH better in terms of getting a proper taste. Since it was such a small amount, it was hard to get a good gauge of the wines. The Muscat was nice though and I bought a bottle. Instead of doing the beer flight, I just cans to go as it seemed more economical. Bar area where those tasting were happening was a bit cramped! There was someone sitting at the bar already, another guy standing doing a tasting, and I felt a bit weird intruding on their space to ask the bartender about the beers. Fridges were on both sides of the bar, so not concentrated in 1 area. Beers/ciders area looking like a bit of an afterthought.

Truly, what's the point of going to wineries where you're guaranteed to find their cabernets and merlots in any of the LCBOs in the province. I'm looking at you, Jackson-Triggs (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/jackson-triggs-winery-niagara-on-the-lake). Having never heard of Marynissen, I figure this to be a place to definitely try. The winery itself is very rustic, bringing you into mind of old wineries at the very start of the winemaking process that started in the Niagara region. The old look of the buildings and a very rustic interior bring you to mind that you're looking at a place unchanged over the years. Do not for a second think that the winery does not take care of itself or the wine. Definitely not the case. This place has wine that is not only fantastic but is only available through the winery itself or in restaurants that take the cure or time to order it. The staff are attentive and are definitely knowledgeable in the product of their selling. At one tasting, the corked a wine that was, well to put it plainly, off. As soon as it was poured the staff knew that this wine could not be tasted. They did let us taste it anyway because, hey, you can't know the good without tasting the bad. A new bottle was put in front of us and that was the great one. The good thing is that they'll let you order it by the case. And mail it to you. Worth the postage indeed.
