TP rolls had a cute folded design. There were plentiful towels also folded intricately. Breakfast available as early as 630 and open for a few hours. Parking is conveniently located right next to your room giving easy to unloading and loading. Check-in went smoothly and was easy. The nightshift work provided clear instructions for stay, parking, breakfast time and location. She recommended swinging by in the morning to explore and receive detailed recommendations of things to do in the area. Both manager and Josie were friendly, shared stories, and ensured our stay was peaceful and we had everything we needed. The team was prompt with keep the breakfast area stocked and anything in your rooms. The manager shared some of his favorite spots along our route such as Spearfish Canyon Scenic route, Custer State Park, and Wall Drug (full of unique local finds). Josie shared her favorite activities in the area, ways to learn about and appreciate the native culture, and recommended a stop at the 1880 town to see an early settlement frozen in time.

This place!! Just wow! I don't even know where to start on putting word to the feels!!…read more I rolled in town late one night driving from Salt Lake City back home to Mpls to scrub the bugs off my windshield and just couldn't drive any longer. I pulled up all the apps I use to find hotels last minute when I travel and cross reference on here to see which ones look the least sketchy (I'm a deaf, single momma traveling alone- feeling safe AND getting a good price is my decision maker!). This one was the only one with 5 stars and thanks to breezing thru the photos on here, I saw that it was definitely affordable. I walked into the office area to see if they had any availability. My first thought when looking around was wondering what I was getting into. It was like I stepped back in time to the 80's. There was photos in plastic sleeves of all the rooms hanging on a column and silk flowers and thing around that reminded me being at friends grandma's house in the cities back then. Out pops this guy that instantly reminded me of Magnum Pi, asking how he could help me. Telling him I was just passing thru and wondering if he had any rooms left for the night, he kindly said they did have a room left and went into details of what all is included and walked over to point to a photo of the room that was available. And asked if I prefer a ground level or 2nd floor room. (Ground level please- I traveled with more stuff to carry in than I'd like) After handing him my card and getting the key, he offered to move a vehicle so I could park close to my room and let go over where the breakfast room and pool was again. And mentioned the room I'm in is his mom's favorite. (Somewhere in our convo, he mentioned it's a family owned Inn when I asked if he was the owner.) There are two separate buildings. My room was in the one that is set up like a motel (outside entrance to get in). I walked into my room and the nostalgia hit me. Even though it was throwback of 80's decor, it felt impeccably clean, perfectly cooled temperature and no wonky or over powering air freshener smells that I often encounter in small town old hotel rooms. I used to have a detailed cleaning business, combined with my hearing loss- I notice A LOT of things when walking into a hotel room. I have been at way more expensive and posh hotels on this trip- and I can't say- this one has all of them beat by a far shot for cleanliness! Despite my blurry, heavy eyelids late into the evening, I had notice how even the outside grounds felt so clean between the office and my room and was curious if it was going to still have that feel in the daylight or if it was going to be a head smack of what sketchy place did I get myself into from being to tired to think. The grounds are freaking impeccably clean too! In all my years of travel, I honestly can not think of a hotel, motel, resort that felt this clean on the sidewalks and parking lot! Not a single cigarette butt, bit of garbage or even any dead leaves were spotted! The bed is a bit firm. The pillows a bit flat (but hey, I always travel with my own pillow anyway). Not much for toiletries offered. Great mini fridge with a separate freezer compartment (very rare!) But I felt safe and slept better than I have in days. More out of curiosity than need, I checked out the Continental breakfast. The breakfast room smelled a bit wonky and the offerings were a variety of pastries and bagels along with coffee and apple juice. I grabbed some coffee and walked the grounds and checked out the pool. Again- amazed at how impeccably clean the grounds were and noticed it is set up for being kid friendly too. They have a play ground and the indoor pool is perfect temperature and relaxing vibe in there. I couldn't resist dipping my toes in the pool- I think it's heated- it wasn't freezing cold like most pools and also want over powering smell of chlorine either (I generally avails pools for this reason- I have sensitive lungs). As I'm sitting outside my room on one of the patio tables writing this review...I don't want to leave. I'm definitely putting this Inn on my list of being a stop when I travel for my annual business trip that usually takes me on this route. I'd also like to bring the kids to give them a taste of what things were like when I was a kid and see if they even have a clue as to how to use the throwback phone in the room! Millennials, this place would probably be a loss on you but any older generations would appreciate all the feels this place gives.

This means some amenities offered at hotels twice the price may not be offered. I'm know that when I book and am not surprised when things don't go 100%. The hotel is right off the highway, close to a few restaurants and across from a gas station. Parking is adequate to the building. The lobby is small with a breakfast room off to one side with a table and chairs for breakfast over flow. This building has no elevator. Something I see in most of the discount hotels we have been staying in. A small room off the lobby holds an ice machine and one washer and dryer for guest use with a laundry folding counter and sink. Everything was clean and tidy. We book through the Wyndham app so we show ID, sign paper work and get key cards. Quick process. Breakfast is 6am-9am weekdays. We asked about local eateries and got a few suggestions. Our room, on the second floor, was as expected. Nice size desk area, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, ice bucket, cups. Sheets and towel quality is in line with the hotel price point. Closet has the hangers you slide into the bar, and one extra pillow, which I did use as the bed had only two. The room was comfortably warm. There was plenty of hot water in the bathroom and good water pressure. Breakfast was not very safisfying. The water in this area has a distinctive taste and that's what the coffee tasted like. We had a packet of instant oatmeal (plain w/no add ins available) and a granola bar. We stopped along the route and got a breakfast sandwich and better coffee. All in all, the room offered what we came for. Hot shower and a comfortable bed. Staff were pleasant. Although the interior could use a little TLC, it does appear upgrades are being done and we didn't encounter anything egregious. I personally love the new wood laminate floor in room. Much easier to keep clean and better for those with dust allergies vs. carpet.
