I discovered Iconix Fitness after realizing my previous gym, a 24 Hour Fitness in Culver City, had…read moresimply outgrown its ability to provide the environment I was looking for. Cleanliness, safety, atmosphere, and overall experience had become increasingly important to me, so I began exploring other options including Equinox, LA Fitness, and several boutique gyms throughout Los Angeles. From my very first conversation with Charles at Iconix, the experience felt different. He exemplified true customer service -- knowledgeable, patient, professional, and genuinely invested in ensuring I had every detail needed to make the right decision for myself. There was never pressure, only consistency and care. Ironically, my initial visit almost talked me out of joining. The commute was nearly double what I was accustomed to, and the entire reason I started going to the gym after work was to avoid traffic, not drive deeper into it. I remember sitting in traffic convincing myself the entire way there that I absolutely would not be joining this gym. Then I walked in. What I expected to be "just another gym tour" turned into an experience. The atmosphere, the energy, the cleanliness, the professionalism, and the community completely shifted my perspective. I found myself not wanting to leave. What surprised me most is that Iconix became something I genuinely looked forward to. It no longer felt like a task squeezed into my day. It became part of my lifestyle. Every workout feels intentional, the environment remains motivating, and seeing familiar faces equally committed to growth and discipline creates an unspoken sense of community that is difficult to find elsewhere. Iconix didn't just change where I work out -- it changed how I feel about showing up for myself.

Icon Fit was my sanctuary when I was going through a breakup 2024. The retention here is strong. I…read morelook forward to seeing my afterwork and weekend morning gym crowd. Don't know anyone's names but it's comforting knowing they'll be there. The staff since I joined, has been great. The front staff always greet you and say goodbye haha. It's like when you're having a rough day and the cashier at Trader Joe's cheers you up. Even the membership card scanner says happy birthday to you! The maintenance staff is always friendly and say hello. The womens locker room is clean. There's rarely any towels just laying on surfaces in the locker room. I never see litter. Doesn't smell gross. Some lockers have broken hinges, but there's literally hundreds to choose from. I like the new glute and cardio equipment. I've taken a few classes- kickboxing with Steven and Robert and then the mobility pop-up. Steven is more cardio kickboxing while Robert is more about technique. I enjoy chatting with Robert. We always have fun convos. I want to try the cardio dance class. I feel like that would be fun. Shout out to Nic and Donovan. They were the ones who welcomed me on day 1. I miss Gabby's playlists! That being said, the disinfectant wipe order needs to increase. I go through about two wipes per workout- one when I hit the strength machines and the second one when I hit cardio. Or maybe a bottle of disinfectant like how planet fitness has disinfectant stations (2 bottles and a roll of paper towels). See you tomorrow!

A few notes to consider before reading any equinox reviews:…read more* I go to multiple equinoxes in LA and OC. This review leverages the experience of these other equinoxes in mind * Lots of entitled and spoiled people go to Equinox and consider even minor every day hiccups huge inconveniences worthy of the death penalty. They come onto yelp and leave disgruntled reviews. Make sure to adjust for this. Parking (****) - like any gym in LA, real estate is tight and parking validation only lasts for a limited time. Westwood gym is a 2 hour validation and going from the parking to the gym is quick and easy. Above average compared to other gyms. LAFitness right across the street is 90m and you'll spend over 10 minutes getting to and from your car. I still think this is not enough for a gym visit so I take my scooter and dont have to worry about it. I'm surprised there aren't more e-bikes or scooters. Gym layout(***) Also needs the caveat of: like any gym in LA real estate is tight... this means small floor layouts separated by stairs and more stairs. The gym could have been designed with better use of floor space. They have the equipment seprated by type (free weight, assisted) which is unfortunate. It would be better if all the leg equipment was in one place, all the chest equipment in another, regardless of whether it's free weight or not. Still this is just a minor gripe. Customer Service (**) - this is where all the LA gyms suffer. It's just... LA. Compared to the OC gyms the CS is really mediocre but compared to LA it's probably above average. This is probably a plus for busy gym goers that don't want to be bothered with pleasantries but coming from OC, where all the employees give you genuine hellos, smiles, fist bumps, shoot off quirky compliments as you lift, make you feel at home, know you by name...it is kind of dry. Pool (??) - can't really comment as I dont swim but you can see the pics. Not all the LA gyms have a pool so i'm assuming this is a plus. Steam room (***) - just average. The clientelle doesn't quite know how to use the eucalyptus oil spray so it's always musty. Spray that shit constantly on the steam homies. Boxing (*****) - i love this boxing gym. No speed bag but it's a separate room with double end bag, heavy bag, and a tear drop bag. Usually empty. Some people kind of dick around in there for a whole hour but I mostly see people doing efficient hard core works outs and stepping out within 20-30 min. So if you brought your e-scooter, not a big deal to wait for it to open up. Usually empty when i show up Overall this is my go to gym in LA. Occasionally i'll go to culver city or santa monica for a change of scenery but i like this one best.

This facility is small but has the bare minimum in terms of equipment, showers, sauna, pool. The…read morecycling room was a selling point to paying almost $200/month, yet half the bikes don't work. When you ask the employees, they say "I don't know, I don't really cycle". I'm not sure what that has to do with knowing how to use the equipment at the gym that you do in fact work at. The staff is the primary reason I decided to cancel my membership. They are simply bodies in a chair. They won't help, they don't say hello or greet you, they seem like they'd rather be anywhere else. They act like you're interrupting their personal conversation when you need to buy a water or ask literally anything. Cycling classes come and go without wiping the equipment. The cleaning standards here are 7/10. The best selling point here is the pool. It's nice to swim indoors, but there are only 3 lanes. Also, the cycling instructor, (Bernard I believe?) is the reason this gym gets a third star vs 1. Overall, the staff not knowing how equipment works, saying you're SOL when none of their bikes work, and being overall rude and unpleasant really kill the energy here more than I imagined. When I first signed up, I felt like it did not matter if the staff was rude- but here we are. I would rather pay less, knowing i'm going to get sub par service. If I'm going to pay almost $200, I would expect cleanliness and employees who know anything about the gym.
