A quick look at the 1-star reviews confirms that he ignores customer concerns. We want to warn all tourists: never book with this company. What we experienced was unacceptable--discrimination and humiliation from their guide. No one should pay money only to be treated this way. Even other customers confronted Scott about the guide's behavior, but nothing was done. An unforgettable experience for sure! If you want the feeling of a real Alaskan adventure this is the experience for you! The boat ride out and back offer amazingly beautiful views that otherwise one would never see. The guides were very personally and highly knowledgable. Rod taught us a great deal about the history of the area. The kayaking was the best ever with the ability to paddle through ice cube like pieces of ice with the backdrop of beautiful glaciers and snow capped mountains. If you get lucky you may even see ice breaking off from the Columbia glacier. So cool! Truly the highlight of Valdez! read more

They did a custom trip for people on a cruise ship. Which was very cool. But the trip was underwhelming. Kayak on a small lake, stop on the other side for a snack, then sort of (but not really) paddle by the glacier terminus before paddling back. They could be great at other trips, but the Valdez Glacier was disappointing. The guide was friendly and enthusiastic, which was a plus. And it was a relaxing enough day. But no "wow" on this particular outing. Apparently most of their trips are longer, and not really compatible with a cruise schedule. If we were to come here on our own I might investigate their other offerings. Also, email communication was inconsistent. Some folks were very friendly, others were very curt. It didn't matter whom you responded to, it was just whomever opened the mailbox at any given time and responded to the messages. read more

This was one of the highlights of the summer! Our guide, Sami was INCREDIBLE! She was friendly, very knowledgeable, patient, kind, and even funny! Sami knew so much about kayaking, icebergs, and glaciers, and she shared her information in fun/informative ways. She allowed us to take our time both paddling and hiking, taking as many pictures as we would like. She even took a few for us. She was relaxed, but also very aware of safety and did everything possible to make this a fun and also safe trip. She was also just pleasant to be around. Whoever hired Sami deserves a kudos, because she is top notch! Thanks Sami! A local recommended we use Anadyr for our glacier trek/paddle, and boy were they right! We did the Valdez Glacier tour, and it was amazing. Definitely one of the best kayaking tours that I have ever been on. Sami was a great guide. Super fun and very informative. She kept us moving throughout the whole day, but also allowed us time to stop and snap as many pictures as we would like. There was so much to see and I loved every minute of the kayak and hike. We took the lake tour of the glacier and had a blast. Kyle was our guide and he was a lot of fun and kept us entertained all afternoon. We had some great photo ops and walking the glacier was cool. Kyle and i had some fun on the way back and got on top of a small iceberg (Very small (10 feet wide and 2 inches above the water and we tried to paddle it to shore for fun) Anyway - Great outfit and lots of fund (especially if you have some kids) read more

I am so in love with these guys I have this ultra-chaotic group trip that we have run every year since college, this time we wanted to go from CA to Alaska and didn't know anything, Anadyr got us all sorted out and we did their four day Glacier Island tour with ultra-bonus kayaking through the flowing icebergs off Columbia Glacier. I did the Valdez Glacier tour which was a kayak tour paddling around a lake and then an easy hike onto the glacier. Very pleasant and relaxing tour and the weather was absolutely perfect! You won't actually see iceberg, or I guess you can find ONE if you are lucky. If you are expecting to kayak in a place that is full of iceberg. Columbia glacier is not the one. The worst thing about this company is the manager. He only cares about how much he paid for sending customers to that place but never care about customers experience. We booked this tour in a bad weather day. Before we left they said the weather will be good and they won't sent people out if it's bad. So we took a 90 mins cruise to get there. Only to find out it was too wavy and heavy rainy. So we drenched at the bay and waited for the boat to pick us up and sent us back. We spent 6 hrs in cold weather for nothing. And when we got back the manager refuse to give us refund and he said "there is no guarantee for seeing iceberg, you can check the website(IT'S TRUE!!!) & I already paid the boat to send you guys out so there won't be any refund!". We told him our previous reservation with K2Aviation to fly to Denali was canceled due to weather and we got full refund. He said PEOPLE DIE FROM AIR CRAFT ALL THE TIME. He was so rude and never tried to solve the problem. So overall, Columbia glacier is not somewhere you can experience big iceberg surrounding you while kayaking. And if you do want to go, please avoid this company, you won't win in bad weather. And the WEATHER IS NEVER PREDICTABLE quote from that manager. read more

Just did the colombia glacier tour with a family of four. Miky was our guide for the kayaking and she took great care of us .she was really knowledgeable and fun. Jared was with us getting us prepared he was also awsome .we learned about the chuga and pointed out animals for us. they had some great equipement ,we stayed dry and warm all day long. read more

We joined their Columbia glacier day trip in late August. It's a ten hour trip. 2 hours one way to get to the destination. Then we offload lots of kayaks and paddled for like 2 hours then had lunch on some little island before another 2 hours paddling. There's really no hiking in the trip. They provide rain boots, rubber rain pants and dry bags. And their kayaks are strong and stable. They teach you a little bit how to paddle. So there's nothing to worry about on that part. Scenery was great. We were basically paddling among little icebergs. You should stay away from the big ones tho - they could explode! read more

Great company. Great guides. Our guide Jack was very knowledgeable and experienced. He even brought photos to show us what the glacier used to look like where we were now kayaking in the bay that has been created by the receding Columbia Glacier. We took a day tour kayaking around Columbia Bay. It was excellent weather for us, but even in the rain they give you gear to stay dry. Our guide brought hot water for hot chocolate and hot tea during our picnic lunch in the bay. Follow their advice on what to wear for base layers and you'll be plenty warm. The weather is more often than not cold and rainy in Valdez, so just dress accordingly and you can have a great time. There is so much to see, you'll be amazed at the ice from the glacier, the wildlife, the peaceful scenery. The boat ride out to the location was equally as beautiful as the Bay. Our boat driver stopped for us to view sea lions and otters along the way. The company is all about safety and Jack made sure our entire group was well informed and safe the entire day. DON'T expect to go right up to the glacier and touch the ice or anything like that. I have read reviews where people are disappointed that they didn't get close enough to the glacier. But getting that close to an actively receding glacier is very dangerous and that is why the tours don't do it. They do offer a face of the glacier tour that gets closer than we did. You will be able to see the glacier from a distance. You will be able to see several glaciers in Valdez from a distance just driving around. About 13 miles out of town is Worthington Glacier along the side of the road, which you can stop at and take a short hike up to. Even here, the closer you get, the more risk you are taking that ice will suddenly break off and literally crush you or a rock slide from the unstable mountains will bury you. If you want to see the face of glaciers much closer but from a safe distance then take a glacier cruise. I suggest doing this from Whittier with Phillips 26 Glacier Cruises or from Sweard with Kenai Fjord Tours. But if you want to kayak and see ice and wildlife and have a peaceful, wonderful day in the Alaskan coastal wilderness, then I highly recommend Anadyr Adventures and their capable guides. read more

We were on vacation this June at Valdez, joining 6 hr kayaking and hiking on the glacier tour. I had a lot of fun. This was my first time kayaking, but I felt very safe thanks to our tour guides Aidan and Mark. They had the motto "safety first" and were very knowledgeable. We, 6 adults and 4 kids, went on a tour with Jared and Kyle. They took us kayaking to the Valdez glacier and then we hiked on the glacier. Both of them were so wonderful and we had such a great time. They showed us Moulins, cracks and so many other glacial features that we would not have figured our ourselves. Not just great value for money but the kids and us throughly enjoyed their company. We did the valdez glacier tour early September. The tour is a combination of a short lake kayak and some hiking on the glacier. The view is OK, not stunning as I previously imagined but our guide Kyle really brings fun and knowledges to this trip that we would not be able to get by ourselves. Another point worth mentioning is, Kyle takes great care of safety, he checked everything before letting us go. He even brought hot tea during lunch time! I would highly recommend if you are a big family or couples just want to spend one leisure day at Valdez, this will be a great trip for you. read more

This tour was the highlight of my recent vacation in Alaska. I had never kayaked before and don't know how to swim, so was a little apprehensive. It was raining that day on top of it ( though they told me that's normal weather for Valdez). Kaitlyn, at the friend desk, was great in making me feel comfortable to go on the tour as I was considering cancelling my reservation. I went with Jack for a Valdez glacier tour and he was just awesome. Somehow I was the only one on the tour that day so it was luckily one on one for me! It was absolutely beautiful and a very different experience for me to kayak on a glacier lake and hike on a glacier. Jack kept me very safe....making me land on firm ground every time even if he had to make some tricky landings himself. He ran ahead of me on the glaciers trying to find good things to show me so I didn't have to walk all the way. We even kayaked into a big ice cave, which he felt was stable enough...he didn't risk us going into any that didn't feel right. The kayak was very stable on water and all their equipment was well maintained. They also gave me all rain gear and other warm layers to wear as I was not wearing the right kind of material for this tour. I couldn't have been more happier with my experience with them that day. read more
